Wiretap: Cousins Demands Trade From Kings

Post#1 » by The Maestro » Mon Jan 2, 2012 12:15 am

DeMarcus Cousins has formally requested a trade and has been directed not to attend tonight’s game against the Hornets.

Kings coach Paul Westphal released the following statement:

“Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything will progress in only a steady, upward direction. As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life!

“As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results.

“Everything that happens on a team does not become known to the public. This is how it should be. However, when a player continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely.

“DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our team as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management, to stay home from the New Orleans game tonight.”

Agree he's a headcase. On hte other hand, if we're going to "go for it", this is another opportunity. No idea what it would take to be the high bid on him.

Would be tough to put a good offer as they don't really have a bad enough contract where Kwame's expiring could be attractive.

It would be interesting to see if Mark "The Preacher" Jackson could help change his attitude and help him grow in the NBA.

I'm not too interested, but somewhat intrigued. Maybe a package like Kwame and Dorrell for the for Cousins. Kings will not be receiving full value for him, so offer them a lowball deal.

Rush could step in at SF and have McGuire to back him up.

Hell no.

He was too much to deal with on the Kings and you want that poison on our team? I hope nobody picks him up and his fat ass is sent to the D League to learn some respect.

Self-entitled bastard.

That's grossly overpaying for Cousins. Udoh straight up for DeMarcus is already a real stretch.

Udoh is a nice role player/career backup and Klay is poo.

Cousins would be our most talented center in 3 decades.

Correction: Klay is poo RIGHT NOW.

He might break out of this slump or he might not. His family history leads me to believe he'll be fine, but his play says otherwise. Awful effort on defense, plays scared, doesn't take the open shot. Thankfully those are all fixable things.

How would a Lee-Cousins frontline pan out?

Cousins is light years away from being the Warriors most productive center in three decades.

A helluva a lot better than a Lee/Udoh or Lee/Biedrins frontline.
