He's an athletic post that I felt like we needed. Never thought about him much be he fits a need I thought we had.

Welcome to the team Kevon!

I can see why Myers and West would like this kid. From basic Youtube watching, I can see the length and defensive potential as well as a good shooting stroke with range. The ain thing though, he looks like he has a motor.

Harrison Barnes future replacement.

if we keep it, I like the pick. he might need surgery and might miss the year, but he represents fringe lottery value at pick 30. That's hard to find fault with.

Horrible pick

According to a NBA executive, Kevon Looney was red-flagged with a degenerative back as well as a hip issue. May require surgery down road.

No Post Game, no Spacing, no Athletisism, no NBA Frame. This dude is like Kuzmic: Long, good rebounder, but not much else. We saw how that worked out.
I hope we trade this guy with Lee somehow.

Looks like he can play either forward spot at times, so Harrison could even be the guy that mentors this kid.

So draft position value and upside. I thought we were going with Montrezl Harell but this guy can also play sf.

This guy was a lottery pick at one time. I think injuries worry teams but for the 30th pick the value is there. He is better than Harrell.

Hip and back concerns are...well...concerning. Lottery talent though, so I can see why the Warriors wanted to take a chance.

draftexpress says degenerative back and hip issue. Seems like an odd choice at #30. That's the kind of pick you make at #31, where the contract is not guaranteed multiple years. But it's Lacob's money, so what the heck.

My thoughts exactly. You dont give a guaranteed contract to a player with this medical bio (at 18 years old!!!)

Looney won't be able to guard the perimeter like Barnes does. Looney is not super athletic. He is probably a better post player for sure and he has a knack for offensive rebounding which is an area of need.

Between this kid and McAdoo we have some good summer league competition.

I hope we find a way to add a shooter.....would love to purchase a pick for Frazier or Harvey.

Like I said in another thread I trust the organization and they probably feel that even if there is risk the potential reward was too good to pass up especially at 30. We will see but the potential is definitely there if he can stay/get healthy.

I knew nothing going into this draft, but if healthy, he certainly sounds promising.

Hopefully he'll be able to suit up in Summer League.
