Is that possible with the covid restrictions? Is he planning on going back to Australia?

If/whenhe goes back he’d have to quarantine for a couple of weeks, as he did when he went down there last time. I think he had to spend 2 weeks in a hotel room, bored stiff.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Spot on.

I've had to do that. Not a lot of fun

I hope he comes here and destroys and makes the roster. The "experts" will lose their minds.

We could definitely use a young Kyle Korver. If Jessup can actually fill those shoes, he can be a valuable rotation piece. And in the limited film I've seen of him from Australia, he seems like he can hit some shots on the move - more than just a pure catch-and-shoot guy. The big question is whether he can play defense at an acceptable level in the NBA.

Via the Wiretap, today:

Justinian Jessup Returns To Illawarra in Australia

Golden State Warriors 2020 second-round pick Justinian Jessup will again play in Australia during the 2021-22 season. Jessup spent last season with the Illawarra Hawks, after being drafted by the Warriors.

Jessup played in 2021 Las Vegas Summer League for Golden State. He started all five games and averaged 12.4 points per game on 42.9% shooting from behind the arc.

Jessup was drafted with the 51st pick after being a four-year starter for Boise State. He was then sent to Australia as a draft-and-stash player. The 6-foot-6 wing started 38 games for Illawarra. He averaged 13.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game as a rookie in the NBL.

I hope he doesn't end up the next Smailagic, at least we didn't waste a lot of draft capital on him

Sounds like Jessup is ready for next year with the Dubbs?

He should be able to get one of the 2 way contract spot at least.

Looking forward to see the difference if he plays Summer League this coming year. I think it's a bit early to wonder what kind of player he'll be, and just hope he'll be good enough to press for a spot on the squad.

Virtually identical stats as last season... link.

No good, I expected at least a bit of improvement from him.

He's considerably more efficient and has cut down on turnovers, that's definitely improvement. The problem is that he probably needs to be a Luke Kennard level of 3pt shooter to have a shot at being a rotational player in the NBA and he's clearly not that kind of shooter. I'm afraid the ship for him has sailed.

Yeah, he's turning 24 in a couple months. He's not making the league.

A guy who increases his efficiency in the same role as the year before. Plays solid defense, and is an overall smart player.

So we're down on that now? Frankly he should have made the team this year.. guys who know how to play the game in their early 20s typically carve out long careers. As I said in the entire preseason/SL - he's good enough now, and sending him back to AUS isn't going to help him much. He's an unheralded Dunleavy type, and when you get one of those without selecting them in the top 3, that's not a bad thing at all

24 and not making the league on a team that has had a 25 year old rookie (Lee), a 26 year old rookie, and a 29 year old breakout candidate (who was a rookie at 25 years old).

If he wants it he'll probably get a camp invite, but my guess is he doesn't make it.

I actually am happy with what I've seen from Jessup. Teams are focusing on him much more and he's managed to become a better all-around player. Only thing that hasn't taken a jump is his 3point percentage, but I really think he can shoot it at a high clip in the NBA.

I do agree initially with the idea that he will NEED to be a sniper in the NBA, but I don't think it needs to be to the extent of Kennard. That dude is one of best shooters in the league and also has some playmaking skills. I don't think Jessup being Kennard is the floor for him. Thats more the ceiling (maybe with less offensive skill but better defensive ability).

Perfect situation is somehow he makes it through waivers and we can sign him to a 2way deal. But we may have to give him the 15th roster spot (which I doubt we really have a lot of open spots next year).

BTW, wrong thread, but doesn't look like Nico is helping his case to be a NBA player in Italy. Smiley is doing okay but also, not interested in bringing him back lol.

Funny to see a Nico mention to go along this with tweet I just saw.

I dont have the stats like I do here, but I've heard that he's shooting more pull-ups there than C&S, which is definitely what he'd do here. He was borderline elite as a C&S player in college.. but going to AUS gave him a much better floor game in the SL. I thought it was easy to see how he could fit in here, but very few seemed to like him. A lot of it was boxscore watching tho so who knows, but I'd absolutely bring him in over Lee. And if he can be a 2-way player next year (not sure of his contract status) then that's pretty much a no-brainer, have to do that
