he can't defend. he can't rebound, he doesn't even box out, he quits on plays here and there. who gives a damn if he is -48 or -50?!
yes, sometimes he can still go off offensivelly, good for him and for the team. but that's who he is now, a microwave scorer ftom the bench who can go off and provide some offense. that's it.

lol arguments are getting way too emotional

I'm genuinely curious, is Klay unique in this?

He isn't, he's unique in that he's a more extreme example of it and he's still treated like a locked in starter. Other players who only thrive when they are hitting shots are typically on bad teams (if they continue to get PT) or get either benched or dealt.

On the Warriors, he's unique in this regard because he only has one thing he can do on his own, and it drives every other aspect of his game. So with that in mind, I refer back to the # of games he has where he's shooting over 40% - now 32/72. And 40% isn't even really a heater, but its passable enough. So if a starter was a big negative in near 55% of games - should that person be a starter? And that also assumes that his passing/rebounding/defending will improve every time he's on a heater, which I think is way more suspect of an assumption than him always being a large negative when he isn't

As for the question about Bazemore.. definitely a bit more, but ultimately its the results that matter. An upbeat loser is still a loser, and fans want wins. The issue is that Klay absolutely can turn it on, but he has to be doing well personally to get there. A very problematic attitude for a team sport

to me thats like a poor man's JJ Redick in the later stage of his career. JJ was much better 3 point shooter and far more efficient overall.

A microwave scoreer who at this rate will have NBA HISTORY #27 season in the NBA HISTORY in 3P field goals made... at .383 percentage (matching league top team Boston Celtics in that category).

He can't rebound but according to nba.com his defensive rebounding % at 9.2. is close to OG Anunoby at 9.3 and Gary Payton at 9.5.

He can't defend but according to nba.com his opponent FG% at .460 is the same as LeBron and Wemby.

Didn't bother with facts against these two. Klay can't defend, rebound, dribble. The fact that Luka is having a career best 38% from 3 and is heralded while klay is shooting a career worst 38% and is killed for it just shows how ridiculous this entire conversation is.

They'll jump in and say Luka takes harder shots, right after they say klay is forcing really tough shots so, again, you're just banging your head against a wall on this

Wait, did you just compare klay to luka? And then come to the conclusion that klay is as good if not better offensively? What are we doing here.

Reading comprehension would help you a ton. I compared them as 3pt shooters, and yes, klay is better from 3. Find another strawman.

Just when you think Klays goose is cooked, he goes off. He's never been consistent but you know the d is not there. We'll see what klay shows up (or out) in play-in.

Selective on your part as well.everyone knows Klay can still shoot, why consider his 3 point percentage in isolation ?.

In the Mavs game thread, the haters were certain that Klay could no longer hit contested jumpers.

Hmm, it sure looked like he hit some vs. the Jazz, including several off the dribble.

The off the dribble isn’t his strength but he still did it, after age and two major injuries. Yeah I know the Jazz are only playing G League players right?

Sure, no problem with him getting minutes with him shooting like this. I still think under 30 minutes is best given his current physical state post injuries and at his age, and perhaps not put him in on defensive possessions as a closer particularly with a lead, but otherwise play him if he is going well. Him having the under 1 second last shot for the win against the Mavs is probably still as good an option as there is.

Your comment was silly though. Luka's main asset isn't 3 point shooting, nor is he being "heralded" for his 3 point shooting.

If anything the fact that someone like Luka, who isn't known for his 3 point shooting, is shooting just as well from 3 as a guy who's entire point is to be a 3 point shooter just shows the problem

Wow, too bad Warriors couldn't retain DDV.

Yes, I proposed Donte being a PG/SG backup. Say Steph 34, Klay 30 and Donte 32 minutes at PG and SG positions. What a pity...

We simply didn't have the cap space or bird rights to re-sign Donte. I dont think anyone was against bringing him back, but there was no way he was leaving 50m deal on the table for another 1+1 deal from us.

DDV earning the bag he did by playing a year with us is great for him and the Warriors org. With OPJ, then DDV getting paid in consecutive seasons after spending a year here, vet FAs looking for an opportunity will know they can sign here for the minimum and Kerr will give them the minutes to earn the long-term deal they feel they deserve.

DDV going to NYK is a win-win for everyone.

Saric not so much though, bad for him and GSW he hasn’t prospered.

I liked DDV and am happy he has gone on to bigger and better things. In the glory days some players were flattered by how good they looked with GSW and fared less well subsequently elsewhere.

I think it is a loss situation for Warriors cause he was great fit. In contrast Jordan Poole was mostly an iso player. So management had to find a way to keep a fit and move the other one. It is their role to identify those fits and be flexible with replacable ones. Another failure here in my opinion.

Months ago, I suggested trading Saric for basically any type of draft/talent capital they could get. The response generally was that "we couldn't trade one of our best players."
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.
