Starting is less of a problem than closing.

Starting was a problem though. It almost guaranteed 30 mpg regardless if he was closing or not. Now that he's coming off the bench we can actually play him 24 if he doesn't close.

He had the second highest minutes with 3 points last night. Kerr will not close him only if he is out of this world bad. If he's just bad, he'll continue to close. He was awful vs the Clippers and he put him to close just because he was pouting. Great man management from Kerr.

He played decently enough against the Lakers outside of missing shots, but he took good looks.

I think he's well suited to a 6th man role, and seems to have accepted that. Has good chemistry with TJD and is a weapon offensively when on

Klay shooting 38.7% in 4th quarters this season. His 4th quarter rebound rate is the worst on the team. His 4th quarter Net Rating is second to last.

this is bad for the team, bad for him, bad for (some) fans who inevitably will grow tired of him, bad in general on any angles. this situation should've been addressed months ago. it's a dead end now.

He is not done by any mean but he needs right fit around. Look at last game:
When he was at his right SG position with right or almost right players around - he was PLUS 9
When he was at wrong SF position or with wrong players around (Wigs at PF) - he was MINUS 16

I posted a thread about that a few weeks ago and the overwhelming consensus was that, yes he is an NBA player.

Klay should be done on this team. We don’t have a good enough defense to cover for his lack of effort.

Maybe ad or gobert can cover for him but this team can’t.

He's definitely an NBA level player. If he joined on 5m/year accepting playing 15MPG, he'd be a positive asset in a formation that has some semblance of defense and not 3 or more guards out there at the same time (he's not a SF). But that's his level. Unfortunately with the way Kerr has been coaching, it's another story.

The problem playing him at sg is he can’t guard any sgs.

You need good defensive SF or PG to pair him with while putting him in lineups vs other teams' bench units. That's why I say 15 minutes, not 25MPG like off the bench Klay that Steve is currently occupying.

You basically need a defensive anchor that you can funnel everything to as well as elite defenders who can cover a ton of ground around him. You'd need a very specific lineup around him that we don't have.

None of that stuff matters when he's a morale sink unless he's making a streak of 3's. Even Draymond has been throwing hands (no pun) and shouting at him audibly on the broadcast about missing rotations. He gives NO second effort on any defensive play. Klay is bad for the team at this point. Another year of getting older and slower and worse at getting himself open isn't going to make this stuff anything but worse. He needs to go. He's not a plus player anymore and it's because of intangibles more than anything else.

Steve and Klay need to be separated. Klay feels entitled to playtime even when not putting in max effort and Steve seems to agree.

Saw this on reddit.

This year:

Klay less than 30 minutes, we are 22-15.
Klay more than 30 minutes, we are 11-19

I disagree. They can both be shipped as a packaged deal in any of the other 29 teams before the end of the season

I was told by someone here that he's a locker room cancer.

He is. Kerr has allowed Klay's ego to continue blowing up and under a different coach would get a conversation different than a dad speaking with their 6 year old. This is what we expect, what's needed, accept it or move to another team.

As petulant as Klay has been, Kerr is far more at fault because it's his responsibility to keep that ship moving. He's actively done the complete opposite in terms of how he treats players.

You'd think the coach that keeps telling us "we use analytics" to figure out lineups would have figured out that playing Moody more and Wiggins less could help them win more and lose less. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.
