I think this team is basically going to tread water until Giannis becomes available in a few years.

We just upgraded from a dumb one-dimensional scorer to one of the best playmakers in the game who can give Steph and Draymond less on-ball time, and will help keep the ball out of Klay's hands except to shoot

How are people sad about this??

Just looking at basketball reference team payroll
https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/GSW.html

And visualizing the changes going on right now, and this just fits perfectly. Hope paul holds up.. And he might be a bit of a motivator to get a chip that was lacking last year.

I'm not saying I'm sad about this. I'm saying I think this organization is going for Giannis in a few years and Klay's and CP3's contracts give them flexibility. I do admit I need some time to mentally cope that I now am rooting for a team that has CP3 on it.

I hate the pick we sent out (even if protected kills flexibility), but this is a major improvement to our teams title chances next year. And the flexibility of CP3 contract/TE next year is massive too.

I also think our backup big situation (only thing left for playoff rotation) will be filled by FA/trade and not the draft. Can't have another kid at backup center. I'm thinking swing for fences with Brook Lopez or settle for a couple of the guys like Plumlee/Zeller/Biyombo/Robin etc.

Also, never been more set that #19 should be a playable guard. I'm going Sasser or Podz. But could see Hawkins if he drops.

We are on track to be really good if healthy.

Rick Celebrini...MVP
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

that's pretty fair, once the endorphins wear off I'm going to need to make peace with that too

Warriors win a ring or Chris Paul doesn’t.

Win/win.

Got a feeling something with Draymond about to happen.

Klay/Dray for AD?

I think we could have done better if we'd waited to trade him until the deadline after we'd built up his value.

pretty obvious no one in the org wanted anything to do with Poole anymore, just absurd that we have to give up an asset to get rid of a contract that was obviously stupid before it was ever drafted

i called this **** a long time ago, how I am able to see this but the FO isn't is mind bending.

but hey, at least we're off a bad contract and Cp3's an expiring.

Vets must be really over the young guys. CP3 is a dinosaur.

Getting off of the Poole contract makes this almost worth it. Hate that we included picks.

This team + Chris Paul alone still isn't good enough.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I wouldn’t say CP3 stays just yet

His contract being partially non-guaranteed could be huge in a follow up trade and much preferred for teams over Poole’s

Next year is partially guaranteed as well. Basically expiring vs 4 yr contract

i also hate trading future picks because you never know what the future holds

but a protected 2030 pick to get rid of Poole's disgusting deal is well worth it. the cost of doing crappy business.
