It’s over I’m calling it

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Sat Dec 9, 2023 4:41 am

The patient has died on the table. Time to move Steph to a contender for as many assets as we can possibly get. Move off Klay, Draymond and Wiggins. Time to rebuild. It’s done. It was a great era but the league has passed us by. It was bound to happen. Better to burn out than fade away.

I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

What would a different coach do to materially change this team? I just don’t see the pieces anymore.

We've already known the season is cooked but no Warrior fan should ever trade Steph. That's a no-no

Play players to their strengths.

If you need a stop play defensive players. If you need to score play offensive players. Basic hs coaching rather than placating to overpaid has beens or high lottery draft picks.

If I were the GM, Steph probably wouldn't like me very much. Probably would never even talk to me after I finished my "work."

But I'd totally tear down this roster and get a new coach. Every player other than Steph would be on the market for the right price.

Crazy... just way way too many turnovers. It's a road game. They're still not done. I'm not against tweaks here and there but to say blow it up is crazy.

I still have faith. I refuse to believe kerr is this dense. If he is, then we know it was brown who's been covering him these past few years.

There's a good team in there, kerr just needs to find tweak the rotation and bring that defensive mindset back.

even 1 way player is fine. for example, if Wiggins does not attempt jump shots just focus on D and fast break we will be better playing him. Problem is players do not realize the mistakes and keep making them.
Thybulle is a one way player but a lot useful than wigs right now

the only 1 way specialist is Loon, Saric and GP2....rest either destroys your defense or destroys your offense

TWEAKS?

This team is awful. Their record vs top teams this season is abhorrent. They're basically bullying bad teams and get their asses handed to them by any good team. Tweaks aren't fixing anything in this team. It needs drastic chances and praying that it somehow works out.

My theory is Kerr is afraid to bench Klay so he's letting the losses mount up so no one can blame him when he does so. :)

Looney is slow and useless offensivley.
Draymond no longer dominates defensively and is below average offensively.
Klay is a ghost....slow...I haven't seen him take a straight-line drive in the half court in two years.
Wiggins is F'd up...something is really gone in this guy.

Curry is the only dude that came in shape, brings it every night.

There is only one very good defensive lineup that can get stops down the stretch.

Curry, Moody, Wiggins, Draymond, TJ.
or
Curry, Moody, Kuminga, Wiggins, Draymond

ANY lineup that has Klay and Looney in it is too damn slow and can't block chit.

If Kerr continues to end games with Klay and Looney out there it's flat out bad coaching.

He’s from Phoenix Sun’s DNA. He believes in that so much, he will run three midgets out there. Even Nellie had a better version with Run TMC and still failed. Dummy doesn’t understand, it’s not going to work just like Bill Walsh genius as he was, the West Coast wouldn’t be as effective in the modern era. Kerr isn’t a disciple of Pop, he’s like Phil Jackson trying to fit his triangle into round hole. It isn’t going to work unless he understands the variables.

The worst part is the vets have lost all credibility because they are no longer good. In nature the young would overtake the old and assume the role as pack leader, but in this unnatural environment, the older players are not starter worthy but won’t give up their spot because they denied reality when they were young to become hof. It’s a lot different denying reality when you’re young when the book hasn’t been written versus when you’re old and everything is written and declining. They have to accept a new reality and learn to live with declining ability and adjust accordingly.

Not giving up yet. They just need to make a few adjustment which may result in some additions and subtractions. I would move Klay to the bench and start Podz. At least Podz can dribble up the floor and relieve Steph a bit. If KLay can't handle the demotion, trade him. Looney needs to go because smart teams do not guard him and it takes him forever to get the shot up.

Trade Wiggins home along with Moody and get OG and Schrouder. Trade Looney to the Spurs and get Collins. He's fiesty, has way better offensive skills than Looney, and is athletic enough to be a lob threat offensively, a shot blocking threat defensively.

Is it weird to wish that Steph was 38 years old and ready to retire right now, so we don’t have to face the reality of trading him and our core to begin a rebuild?

Steph’s agelessness is this teams excellent problem to have, but one I don’t want to mentally address.
