It's TIME! 24 Draft

Post#1 » by DevinVassell » Sat Dec 9, 2023 4:51 am

Screw it, I've created the draft thread a little too early this year... but lets be serious, the writing is on the wall.

The big time, big spending, league leading (payroll not record) dubs juggernaut sucks. This old aging roster can't compete for 48 mins. Even if the heart and mind wants to push for greater things its pretty obvious that the legs and the lungs don't. With over a quarter of the season already in the books, our layup line warriors now keep company in the standings with the true tanking teams... (Hi Jordan! Hi James!) outside even the play in.

So drop your thoughts on whom we could pick that Kerr won't play... if we had a draft pick... in the first... or second round.

Wasn't Doc Rivers traded for a pick... nudge, nudge. I've read here we have a top five ALL TIME coach on the payroll.

.....................................................

Maybe a pick outside the lottery is gettable.

Dalton Knecht can score and handle.

Or the second round... maybe baby.

Coleman Hawkins can facilitate and is over 6'8.

Nobody under 6'8 and he has to be playable in Kerrs system. Problem is this team has no picks, unless we trade someone for a pick or get into top 4

It’s depressing to even look at this draft knowing we only have a pick if we’re top 4.
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991
1995 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5
2000 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5 (61.1% TS)
2015 Stephen Curry 10.8 (75.1% TS)
1997 Michael Jordan 10.7 (55.1% TS)
1998 Michael Jordan 10.6 (50.6% TS)
2011 Dirk Nowitzki 10.3 (68.0% TS)

You don't even want a pick in this draft it's terrible.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Yeah, they picked the best season to have traded their FRP.

Let's start planning for a draft where the Dubs don't have either a 1st or 2nd round pick?

Yeah, they picked the best season to have traded their FRP.

Which is why we'll probably end up with a top 4 pick and give up our pick in the following draft.

That's right! It becomes top 1 protected in 2025 and unprotected in 2026!

they won't be in the lottery, so there is no way for it to be 1-4.

They are currently in the lottery with a 9.4% chance of landing in the top 4. Why are you so confident they won't end up in the lottery? Which teams do you see them overtaking to not end up in the lottery? What happens if Steph misses 10-20 games this season?

IDK if they end up in the lottery, and think there is probably a 50/50 chance of them doing so, I just don't want them to somehow end up in the top 4 which would be disastrous.

Well Oso Ighodaro was a late 1st/2nd target this year if he entered, so I guess he's my initial target if we buy/trade for a late 1st or 2nd. But there are a lot of interesting 2nd round options that I want to watch throughout the season as well.

Yeah, they picked the best season to have traded their FRP.

Hopefully that makes up for the worst season to have the #2 pick.

He looks good but isn't he a projected top 5 pick?

No way Warriors keep their 1-4 pick and we aren't getting a top ten pick via trade... so yeah, he is basically (in the words of Nat King Cole) "ungettable".

Need to be looking for uncut gems. I'm sure there will be a few around.

^ Agreed both look really good.

4 of the top 5/6 draft propects are from another country...

5 current MVP leaders are from... you guessed it.

The foreign invasion continues and I'm loving it.

Illinois on the way to the elite eight?

My Coleman 2nd round dream just died a little. Someone should have given that guy a promise last year.

Do we even have a 2nd rounder this year?
