Podz being able play his way to become a starter making Klay and CP3 come off the bench really isn't talked about enough. That's been a huge deal. A rookie starting over 2 hall of fame players. Is there anyone else in the draft this year that would've been able to do that minus victor obviously.

Last 8 games before this Spurs game, he's averaged 29.5 MPG, 38.6/30.3/57.1 or 8.5 PPG. His RPG is about the same and his assists are a bit up.

His shooting has steadily declined. Maybe a rookie wall. That's got to be a priority for the offseason, work on the J. Because teams are preventing him from getting to the rim, for that off the glass layups. And his floaters are not good enough. Better jump shooting should open up more drives.

He still does a lot of good things, great floor game and effort on rebounds.

But if he can't shoot well enough, his drives into the lane are going to be cut off even more.

Podz doesn’t appear to be a good catch and shoot player. He shoots much better side stepping, jab stepping first. It’s kind of odd.

Podz has been super impactful for a rookie but the book is getting out on him. Doesn’t finish to his right and can’t shoot a jump shot.

The kings scouted that on him in the preseason.

But they’ve added to the book. They’re looking for him to take charges. I don’t think he’s drawn a charge in a few games.

He’s a rookie this is supposed to happen to him and hopefully he can develop counters. His ceiling is determined by if he can develop any counters but he’s set a very high floor as a rookie. He’s been an impact player for us as a rookie.

Podz will adjust to the scouting reports. My guy has BBIQ up the ying yang.

I'd imagine he's hitting the rookie wall physically. Dude has gone from playing 30 games in the west coast conference to playing an 80 game season as a starter in the NBA.

On defense, he mainly needs the experience and physical improvements that will come with time, and to stop fishing for charges as his first option.

On offense, he needs to create shots for himself and get a faster trigger with catch and shoot, because he always hesitates and loses the opening.

Creating a shot for himself is gonna be the most difficult of those things to actually accomplish. If he can't figure out some moves he can go to to get a decent look he's gonna crumble offensively.

He just turned 21 a couple of weeks ago.

The best thing is if he had a late growth spurt of a couple of inches. Or HGH or something.

DDV is having his best season for the Knicks at age 31, averaging a career-best 14.3 PPG and highs for efficiency, 40.4 on 8 3PA.

His previous high in 3PA was with the Warriors last season, now second best in 3P%.

That is the obvious place Podz can increase his impact. They're both listed the same height, about the same weight. DDV probably has more bounce but they're both active on the boards for their size and can do some playmaking, getting assists. DDV averaged more rebounds and assists with the Warriors compared to this season where he's taking more shots.

Hopefully over the next couple of seasons, Podz can double his 3PA from the current 3.3 this season and hit 37-38% or better efficiency. He also needs to get his FT% from 69% so far to 75% or better but he's not going to be a high FTA player unless he develops some better shot creation skills.

Basketball Reference lists this year as Donte's age 27 year. Theoretically this should be around DDV's physical peak.

DDV wasn't much of a presence in last year's playoffs and expecting Podz to be better is a tall order.

Still does a lot of good things but doesn’t score like before.

Over time you hope a rookie or young player shows improvement, as he acclimates more to the speed of the league and has worked on developing his bag or moves, finding best spots.

Maybe he’s hit a wall or works more on hitting the boards. But he’s trending in the opposite direction in terms of making shots.

Lot of work to do in the offseason. Team can’t afford any more zero offensive impact players.

The biggest disappointment is he's not really a catch and shoot guy. Can he develop into a catch and shoot guy?

He has to speed up his trigger for catch and shoot, and also figure out a step back or something. And add muscle so he can defend better. Hopefully he has a busy off-season.

His side step / step back shooting is much better than his catch his shoot. He just doesn't go to it often. Which is fair. Can you imagine a rookie taking a bunch of side step 3s when he's playing with Steph. That's some jp ****.

He already has a step back and he already defends well with plenty of strength to do so

I just think he’s embraced the Little Draymond role too much because he doesn’t even look for his shot anymore
