1/25 Game 42 Kings (24-18) @ Warriors (19-22) on TNT

Post#1 » by cdubbz » Thu Jan 25, 2024 2:54 pm

Fun game on TNT tonight hopefully against the Kangz. NBA ALL-STAR starters will be announced tonight too!

Last 10 games Warriors are 4-6 and the Kangz are 5-5.

Won't be here to make the game thread later in the day. Always a fun one against the Kings! They're a better team right now in the West, but we're 2-1 this season with us BLOWING. the 3rd game 124-123. Both teams are a far different team than a few months ago -- Kings have slumped just a little and the Warriors are free falling under .500.

I do wonder if the game will have the same energy as the start of the season. First 3 games were pure energy and excitement. We are without CP3 this time around, but hopefully Kuminga and Podz show a difference and Draymond doesn't get ejected.

I'm feeling confident about this one with the way we played last night. Hopefully the good vibes carry over to this game as well.

I'm not understanding how people are confident after beating a bad Hawks team playing without Trae Young.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

The Warriors lost to "Memphis" in their last game before they beat the Hawks so things are looking up!

It is very likely that Steph gets bumped by Shai as an all-star starter. Not only was Shai right on his heels with the fan vote, but I'm guessing players and media (the other 50%) will vote Shai in over Steph. So lets see if Steph has a little chip on his shoulder tonight if they gets announced prior to the game.

This might be the right game to give our old guys lineup one last try, since they have had lots of success against the kings. Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, Loon.

For me it's not that we blew out a bad hawks team, but the rotation made sense. The defense looked better. We were in a complete free fall because no one knew their roles and rotation. Lineups were all screwed up.

We'll see if we moved in the right direction or not, but a week ago I'm not sure we would've beaten anyone let alone blow a team out.

I don't think we've solved all our issues, but we should be able to beat a kings team. I don't think we beat the lakers on saturday however.

Also, Trae is a fantasy superstar but is anyone certain the Hawks are better with him playing than not? I'm not ruling out that a winning team could be built around him to make up for his defensive shortcomings but it's not the team he has around him right now.

Their defense is atrocious with or without Trae. How is Griffin totally out of the rotation on such a bad team?

The Kings are shooting lights out this year. I think they bomb us into oblivion. We're on a b2b too.

Not sure if people realize we hvae the most b2b's in the league this year. Not great for a team of this age.

We're going to get smoked if Kerr leaves Curry and Klay out there together for too long after the opening tip.

And the 2 missed games could well result in 2 additional B2Bs tacked on somewhere I assume? Again, the reason why we need Kuminga and Moody to play (hopefully constructively as they have been), as well as Podz and TJD for stretches. Moody needs to start getting some solid, regular minutes when he's back. Can't count on CP or GP to be available regularly.

How Kerr handled the rotations in the Hawks game was not bad, but when CP, GP2, and Moody come back there's going to be logjams again, and likely will result in more confusing roles and minutes allocations. I don't know if the "big trade" is out there for them, but I do believe they still need to pull off at least one consolidation trade so everyone who needs minutes is getting them and roles are more clearly defined. Kerr has made a lot of mistakes, but he's also had to juggle a lot of pieces, with many shifting in and out of the roster, so it's not that easy of a task.

Kuminga is clearly taking a step up to the point where it would be difficult to justify cutting his minutes. Podz and TJD, I don't think anyone envisioned them playing much if at all this year, but they've both been good enough to need some minutes (IMO Podz is probably playing a few too many and TJD could play a few more). And then there's Moody who has been very good but just can't get on the court. Kerr probably won't drastically cut Klay's minutes, nor Payton's, however if Wiggins is moved that probably opens up some minutes for Moody.

Read on Twitter

Fox is going to have his choice of who to hunt on switches.

Barnes will probably have a few post ups vs steph.

And when the ball swings, you know saric and klay won't know where the ball was passed to. Open 3 pointers.

CP will be the problem.

Kerr has a decent idea how to juggle GP2. Moody won’t be an issue (for Steve); he simply won’t play him.

But fitting Paul back in will require major adjustments. If they are playing well that will be a huge headache.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Haven’t looked at box scores but how much did Podz & TJD play last time against the Kings? I feel they can help us a lot. We will definitely struggle against Fox & Monks quickness. Especially without GP2 & Moody to give us minutes.

Draymond was brilliant last night.
