The Klay hate is way over the top for me, he is a GSW legend, an integral part of the dynasty and started down the track to his major injuries playing with a hamstring injury trying to win a finals series for GSW, at which he was making a fair fist.

Everyone knows he is not the player he once was through no fault of his after two devastating career threatening injuries. Surely he could accept playing the current role which is best for the team, which to me and many others looks to be the 6th man role. If he shows signs of being his old self he could obviously immediately return to starting.

I disagree. Nobody could blame him for not being the player he once was, and if he was just playing worse, I'd still love the guy and feel bad for him. The problem is that he doesn't seem willing to admit he is not the player he once was, and it is leading to him dragging us down while griping and groaning. It isn't the worse play I'm growing to resent; it is his refusal to acknowledge things have changed and that what he is doing is hurting us as a team.

I don't disagree, I just don't think he's being as willful as you suggest. I think he looks back at his career and he has no idea how he can affect the game positively if he's not shooting 3s. His mindset is that if he's not chucking he has no game and he's kind of right. He's no better than Kyle Korver in his final years and probably not even as good.

One bad effect as someone has said previously is that other players still sometimes appear to defer to him as if he was still 2019 Klay Thompson.

I like Kerr trying to get Klay going. I just want to see him pulled when he's not hitting shots and that looks to be Kerr's adjustment since he hasn't put him back in.

I suspect I am older than you and hence am closer to the rage, rage against the dying of the light thing, but agree with your assessment of the current situation. I guess he is probably no less selfish than he ever was, but he was so good particularly as a shooter in his prime that his selfish play was actually good for the team. He ain’t that guy anymore, and I agree both he and Kerr need to realise that. I also don’t have much sympathy for him wanting to get paid at this point in time, GSW paid him a lot of money while he didn’t play for two and a half years when he was on a contract awarded after the ACL injury.
