How would you rank our 4 main young players compared to other teams' young players?

I mean, if you think about it, Podz / Moody / Kuminga / TJD would be a better starting point than a lot of rebuilding teams have, no?

I know we still have other guys who could be added, like Garuba, Quinones, Gui, etc, but I'm talking specifically about the 4 main guys above.

Podz has been a huge surprise, is already a starter as a rookie, works wonderfully as a connector, does the dirty work, and is having a great rookie season. Makes a lot of winning plays. Modern day Manu Ginobili IMHO.

Kuminga is still 21 and is already a starter, could be aiming to average something like 20/6/3 as soon as next year, and has All-Star potential a few years down the road.

Moody obviously needs to get minutes, but I believe most of us who actually watches the games know he produces when given the opportunity. I mean, as a 4th best starter kind of guy, he would work very well... a classic 3 & D guy.

TJD, as "oaktownwarriors87" posted here, has had a surprinsingly great rookie season in terms of advanced stats. I think TJD is definitely starter-caliber and he should only get more minutes in the future.

So, how do you compare these 4 players relative to other teams' young nucleus?

Depends on who you're comparing them against. Against Washington, Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte, Brooklyn yea, I'm taking all of our young guys over what they have. If you're comparing them against OKC, SAS, HOU, TOR these teams all have a player that they think they can build around. JK isn't that.
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991

1997 Michael Jordan 10.7 (55.1% TS)
1998 Michael Jordan 10.6 (50.6% TS)

I'm taking LaMelo Ball over all our young guys. He's 22. Sad that we had a chance at drafting him and blew it.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Ball's good if he can stay on the floor lol. Kuminga has already played more career games than him.

That family is just brittle.

Podz. - He's not a number 1 nor a number 2. Could be a solid 3rd best player on a team. He does everything well but nothing great (except for hustle). He's not Manu. Manu was a solid number 2 and at times a number 1.
Kuminga - Maybe Jalen Brown comp ? Not sure if he's a number 1. Definitely a potential number 2.
Moody - Solid bench to borderline starter. He's not better than Wiggins defensively. You can't give him the ball and expect him to
get you a bucket on offense. He's likely a better ball connector than Wigs but doesn't have Podz vision or handles.
TDJ - Solid bench to borderline starter. ..

I dunno about other teams' young players, but the setup is not very good. There is no #1 option - likely not even a #2 - but they are a nice mix of smart/athletic, which will probably be good enough to keep them out of the early lottery, but not good enough to be a playoff team. For 3 of them, their progress on their jumpshot will be the key. Think Podz has the best chance of really jumping the line there and being a legitimate #2, but it would likely require 40%+ from 3 on at least moderate volume. Kuminga is in the same boat - doesnt need to be at 40% but needs to be credible - but I'd buy the improvement from Podz over Kuminga in that department easily. And it will be very necessary for Kuminga, who's playing usually with 1-2 ATG shooters. The lanes arent going to get *more* open as they age and retire

Moody will get a lot better once there's less improvisation. TJD is a rim runner and looks to be fine at it, but will need to shore up his perimeter defense and rebounding. But think they have a more capped ceiling as high-level role players at their peak

Our young 4,which is youg 7 if you add Payton, Quinones and Santos is better than 2/3rds of the NBA teams young cores but not good enough to be the best players on a champioship team even with optimistic projected improvements. They need Curry, Draymond, Wiggins, a better version of Klay and a better version of Looney and old Chris Paul as he is and a big 4th string 8 minute per game center to throw a different look at big teams and Jokic.

If we draft a superstar our young core would be a good supporting cast.

Big center x, Kuminga, superstar small forward better than Kuminga, Podz, Payton.
Bench unt, Tryce, Garuba, Moody, Quinones, defensive specialist point goint guard.
Fill in Santos
.
That team could compete for championships but I don’t know how we get that superstar small forward unless we get as lucky as the Spurs got when Kawhi developed.

I don't think Houston has that player yet.
