Yes. He just needs a defined role. In order to give him a defined role, the front office must acquire another 20-point scorer to relegate Thompson to a clear fourth option spot-up jump shooter.

In this role, he'll be fine. Curry, Thompson, and Moody should get nearly all the SG and SF minutes. If Moody out plays Thompson, Moody should play down the stretch.

Thompson is still quite capable of becoming a 45/40 role-playing shooter. He just needs a clear role.

Bingo... don't get why people still don't understand this lol

Yes Klay is still a decent player and could be on the team at a great price. But Kerr is an idiot who won't use him properly and it'll screw us.

MDJ has to Billy Beane Kerr this summer or we're ****

Kind of depends on, sign him for how much? A low enough contract will get more yes votes.

Which is crazy because it’s largely symbolic, will have little effect on anything

It’s his presence that makes up the bulk of the impact here.. do we want Kerr/Klay to try again or not? Even if he signed at vet min, I’m thinking of the minutes impact that has on Podz/Moody more than the contract cost

Yep, Kerr can't help himself

FO should force their hand and move on from Klay.

Thankfully the majority on here have basic common sense.

The answer is obviously no, even for the minimum (even though he's not a min player). There's too much emotional attachment to anything that has started since the beginning of the dynasty run where people are unable to act rationally. Kerr in particular, is the biggest culprit.

I don't know how you can answer yes or no without knowing the details. If he's making $10M a year and playing 15 minutes a game then absolutely yes. If he's making $22M a year and playing 30 minutes a game then f no. Considering I don't trust Kerr to limit his minutes though, I'd have to vote no anyway.

Unfortunately I'm 95% sure they're going to make him an offer, which will way overvalue his production, and he will take it.

What is the alternative? Does not signing him give us any actual salary flexibility?

It forces Kerr to give Moody time.

im really worried about the Dubs signing Klay

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10117685-nba-rumors-klay-thompson-warriors-took-note-of-jrue-holidays-135m-contract.amp.html

Five-time All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors paid close attention to Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday's recent contract extension, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

On the latest edition of the Lowe Post podcast, Lowe revealed that both Thompson and the Warriors "took note" of Holiday's four-year, $135 million extension that he signed with the Celtics on April 10 (13:40 mark).

Thompson is currently set to hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason.

Jesus... do I have to??

It's a sad day when no one (including myself) wants Klay on the Warriors.

Fact is Kerr32 ruined the relationship.

Maybe

What it really does is force Kerr to look for an alternative

I'll remain undecided for now.

I'm leaning towards No, however I'd like to see if we can trade Wiggins for a Derozan type to replace Klay in the lineup, and let Kuminga/GPII take the SF minutes. That way Kerr has to adapt away from the system that worked for the unique group we had when they were younger.

You're probably right. It's a bummer we didn't try and turn his contract into something at the deadline.

I think he will continue to be an energy drain on the locker room if he's not starting/getting his minutes anyway.

Will sign for a bigger contract than play warrants IMO but they are capped so can't get someone better

6th man non all stars should IMO make MLE.

Return to Golden State Warriors
