Michael Turner?

Post#1 » by sethc13 » Wed Apr 4, 2007 3:03 am

What do you guys think about the Bills maybe trading for Michael Turner?

I would be all about getting Turner, but I would give up nothing more than a 2nd Rounder. He is certainly a more well-known commodity than any RB we would be drafting in the 2nd Round. He is a bruising RB that would fit in well in Buffalo. He would also allow us to take a premier LB (Patrick Willis or Paul Posluszny) in the 1st Round.

His agent is trying to secure a deal with the Titans but I heard that he was in Buffalo last night.

A.J. Smith is going to ask for a lot but I'd give up our 2nd this year and one of our 3rds for Michael Turner.

In turn I would trade down from the 12th spot and try to re-acquire a 2nd round pick and then draft Penn State LB Paul Posluszny.

Some things I like about Turner is his ability to run inside and with Marv Levy addressing our interior Offensive line with the signings of Dockery, Whittle and maybe even Walker who can slide in as a RG, Turner could really benefit.

He has an ability to catch the ball which is what Levy and Fairchild have been yearning for the past couple of months and he doesn't have the mileage a veteran has nor the inexperience that a rookie RB would bring.

He's a good fit but I would really stop short of giving up a 1st and a 3rd for him.

2nd and 3rd I'd be willing to do.

Looks like Turner had trouble getting into Buffalo today so the visit was postponed.

Unlikely. It's either a sign that things are heating up with the Titans or they are trying to put pressure on the Bills.

I'd agree with that. I don't really think that his trip was delayed. This move sounds calculated.

Turner looks to be headed to the Titans.

The Bills could try trading up for Adrian Peterson, also Marshawn Lynch's stock is supposedly dropping a lot and could be even had in the 2nd round.

There are a lot of possibilities here, no need to overpay for Turner.

man, a first and a third for michael turner? seems really steep, especially for a running back.

There is no way Marshawn Lynch drops to the 2nd round.

I keep on hearing that it would be a swap of 1st round picks and a 3rd.

That's not how it works. That is the price if someone decides to sign him to a contract. That wont happen though since nobody is going to give up that much. Everyone knows that San Diego doesn't want to lose him for nothing at the end of next season, so what happens is a sign-and-trade. The teams agree on a trade (i.e. 2007 2nd Round Pick and a 2008 3rd Round Pick) that is conditional on the player and the new team working out a long term deal.

Michael Turner visited Buffalo today. Looks like he wasn't just playing games with the Bills by not coming yesterday as planned. This is good news for the Bills. Hopefully they can get something done.

Again I don't know much about the football.....but would you guys rather draft Peterson from Oklahoma, or sign Turner and get maybe a DB, or LB with the pick. I kindda like getting turner and drafting hall from Michegan...don't ask me why just cause!

It really depends how much we have to give up to get Turner. If we could get Turner for 2 3rd Round Picks than we'd prefer to get Turner and draft a LB (Patrick Willis?) in the 1st Round. If Turner costs us a 2nd Round pick (or a swap of 1st Round Picks) than we'd much rather draft Peterson (if he's available) and draft a LB in the second round.

No DB in the first round though. We have a good young CB in Youboty. We have much bigger needs at LB and RB.

Ralph Wilson must really like him. He flew him over in his private jet. The last time Wilson did that he signed Drew Bledsoe.

My prediction: If Peterson is not available at the #12 pick, the Bills will draft Patrick Willis and trade a 3rd this year and a 3rd next year for Turner.

I'm not sure that A.J. Smith bites on that but if Levy can pull that off I'd be pretty estatic.

I'd rather you guys take Michael Turner than we do...
I'm not so sure anymore that I'd want the Titans to give a 2nd (minimum) Rounder just so we can have a guy who'll split carries with LenDale

When asked if the Bills would be willing to surrender their first round pick in this year's draft for Turner, Levy chose not to comment.

tom modrak said this is going to be a deep draft. so one could say
giving up the 1st isnt too costly. but the other answer is a 1st in a
deep draft could mean a star player for years to come.

I think the most the Bills will offer is a 2nd round pick this year and a 3rd next year.
