Sheffield thinks he is just saying what is on his mind, but sad thing is the media is using him as a puppet.

Give it a rest Gary. You're still bitter that the Yankees shipped you out of town. The thing is I still like Gary as a player and watching him hit, but what's done is done...and it's time for him to just shut it and play baseball for his own team now...the Tigers.

He has 14 SB's this IIRC. Joe didn't let him steal. He had 10 the last full season he played with us back in 05...

He has an arm.
He can run.
He can hit for power and average.

Joe didn't let him.

Lofton is a joke, he was soo bad in spring training, so putting him in bottom of lineup is ok by me

Let him what throw? run? hit for power and average?

The only thing Sheff didnt do when he was healthy was steal bases.

And why did he want to stick around so bad, why was he so pissed when we traded him? I just don't get the guy sometimes....he always thinks the world is out to get him.

That being said I still would rather have him then Abooboo.

If Sheff wasn't a notorious **** talker and malcontent, maybe he'd have more credibility in this argument. But between him and Lofton, who wasn't happy with his role here from day one, I don't know how much of their B.S. I believe. I never heard Tom Gordon, Rondell White, Derek Jeter, or the myriad of black hispanic players we've had under his watch complain about Torre being racist.

Darryl Strawberry came out today and said Torre was great to him.

Bernie Williams was Torre's favorite...even though he is hispanic.

Sheffield needs to just play baseball instead of thinking the world is out to get him.

lets not make it sound like strawberry is a high character guy either...

ccvle wrote:who is lofton?

pretty sure hes soem dude who batted for a higher average when he was with the yankees than damon is right now.

ok, lofton and sheff are not high character guys. they have had their share of controversy, problems and what not. so has strawberry.

its unfortunate that whenever you hear about this kind of stuff, and these are pretty heavy accusations they come from shady guys who have had a history of stirring the pot.

it boils down to whether or not you think sheff is so selfish that hes willing to call another person, someone who has been with the yankees for atleast a decade now.. a racist (essentially his intent without saying) just to sell a few extra copies his book?

If Torre was a 'racist' why did Sheffield pout about being traded?
