"We believe he'll take us to the Promised Land," general manager Dave Gettleman said on Tuesday after Newton signed a contract that makes him third-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL based on an average salary of $20.76 million a year

Big money for Cam, what do you guys think?

In the NFL the instant you find a QB who can lead your team to the playoffs it's crucial to lock him up. Did the Panthers overpay? Probably, but that's essentially the price dictated by the market.

Yeah I was pleased with the numbers at the time, but after the outrageous deals for flacco, osweiler, and bradford this offseason this deal is gold.

Newton really got screwed on timing in his career. He lost huge money by being drafted one year too late. Then he had his breakout season one year too late. Poor guy, but lucky for us.

If he was a free agent this year he'd be closer to $30m/yr than $20m

Return to Carolina Panthers
