ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- It won't take the Broncos long to make their 2007 Monday Night Football debut.

The Broncos will open the preseason with a Monday night contest at the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 13. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. MDT at Monster Park, and the game will air on ESPN.

It will be the Broncos' only nationally televised game in the preseason slate, which was announced Monday afternoon. Denver follows the trip to San Francisco with an excursion to Dallas to face the Cowboys, who are under the direction of new head coach Wade Phillips. That game will take place between Aug. 16 and 20.

Denver makes its home debut for the year the following weekend in the third preseason game, against the Cleveland Browns. That game -- which will likely see the starters play at least half the night -- will take place sometime between Aug. 23 and 27.

The Broncos close out the preseason with a perennial August foe, the Arizona Cardinals. That game will take place sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.

Notes on the opponents:

WEEK 1 - SAN FRANCISCO: This will be Denver's first preseason game at San Francisco since 2000 and first game of any kind there since 2002 ... Teams last met in the preseason in 2005; Denver won 26-21 en route to a 4-0 preseason ... The 49ers' reappearance on the Broncos' preseason schedule resumes a series that saw the teams play 15 preseason games between 1988 and 2002 (they actually played twice in 1995, but did not meet in 1998). The clubs also met annually from 1968-79 and 1984-86.

WEEK 2 - DALLAS: Is the resumption of an annual preseason series that ran from 1999 through 2001; Denver won two of the games, including a 2001 duel at Texas Stadium ... Could end up being the Broncos' last game at Texas Stadium, as they are not scheduled to meet in the regular season there before the Cowboys move into their new facility in Arlington, Texas ... Teams also met each summer from 1994-96; Denver won two of those three games ... Denver holds a 6-5 edge over the Cowboys in their preseason series.

WEEK 3 - CLEVELAND: Will be the Browns' second trip to INVESCO Field at Mile High; the teams met in the regular season on Dec. 14, 2003 ... Teams have not met in the preseason since 1983, when the Broncos won 19-10 at Mile High Stadium in their only August duel.

WEEK 4 - ARIZONA: Will play for the fourth consecutive preseason and fifth in the last six seasons ... Denver has won the last two preseason games with Arizona and six of the last seven ... Teams met three times in the preseason between 1999 and 2002; the Broncos won all three. The two teams also played each other every August from 1990 through 1994; the Broncos were 2-3 in those games.

Pre-season will be a laugher for us considering we have weak depth and they're the guys usually playing. At least Cutler will have a little more time to get accustomed to Stockley and work him in with Walker and Smith.

Don't forget Brandon Marshall. I expect him to step into the #2 role.

Rod is all class, but he's getting so slow. Might be all that blackjack pizza...
But HIP surgery? I'll always love the guy, but that's getting old.
