2022 NBA draft

Post#1 » by K_chile22 » Wed May 18, 2022 4:23 am

Rockets have the third and seventeen picks in this year's draft. Who do you like?

I have Chet first on my board, don't think he gets to third. Both Jabari and Paolo are neck and neck with me, don't have one above the other and would be happy with either

At 17 a few guys I like: Tari Eason, Ousmane Dieng, TyTy Washington
And a sleeper pick who's mocked a bit later: Dalen Terry.

Would love to try to trade up for Dyson Daniels

Can’t screw up with those three. Best fit Jabari. Toss up with Banchero or Chet. On paper Chet might be the better fit but his frame is worrisome. Banchero is going to be a solid player right out of the gate and has dog in him. Most likely going to be a star if his defense improves.

If Orlando didnt want Chet, would Houston be interested in jumping OKC to get 1st choice of Chet/Jabari? and what would they add to #3 to get there?

17 plus a future 1st of some kind? Is just the bucks 2023 pick enough to be that?

Idk, might be an overpay given how close the top three are this year but I love Chet for this team

Feigen says it's very very likely to be Paolo, with Jabari and Chet going 1 and 2.

Think it may be time to move on from both wood and Tate. Frontcourt has a lot of mouths to feed.

Paolo/KJ
Sengun/Garuba

Should be the regular rotation there with KJ getting some minutes at the 3 and Garuba at 4

I'll stick with 3. A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush. Not particularly high on IQ or Toppin but big on Paolo

I second the Paolo, a lot of duke players don't turn out the way they should but I feel even his floor is still higher than either of those players.

Came out of it with Jabari (who I had 3rd) at 3, Tari (who I had 17th) at 17 and TyTy (I had 19th) at 29 after moving back from 26 for seconds. Not a bad haul!

Looks like the Rockets made out like bandits! Great draft for y'all. :)

Your FO has built a fully fleshed out roster in 2 seasons. Well, at least on paper. It's quite amazing how they've gone about the rebuild TBH and deserves some love. Now the coaches need to work on developing these guys to reach their expected potential.

Still kinda pinching myself.
This draft couldn't have gone better if I scripted it personally.

Before the lottery I had Jabari and TyTy as the best possible outcome for the Rockets 2 first round picks.
Then when the lottery pick landed at 3 I knew Jabari was likely out of reach and felt Washington would take some finagling to acquire so I looked at Eason as a realistic option at 17.

Once the mocks started dropping the overwhelming consensus had the Rockets taking Banchero at 3 (which is where I ranked him overall as well) so I started warming to the fact that he would likely be the guy.

Then about a week ago I received some info that led me to believe there would be some shiftiness at the top of the draft:
BallerTalk wrote:The consensus is Jabari, Chet, then Paolo but...
I have the unshakable feeling someone is going to get cute with one of the top two picks.

But I had no idea it would unfold so fortuitously for the Rockets.

Finally, when the 26th pick came and went I was seriously stunned that Stone had seemingly passed on Washington, not knowing that he had a plan all along that not only landed TyTy but 2 additional assets as well..

Rafael Stone literally check off my entire 2022 Rockets draft wishlist like some kind of Summertime Santa Claus
and I couldn't be more ecstatic.

Yeah the Rockets getting their guy, as Sam Vecenie said the two guys he heard the most for them at 17 were tyty and eason, at 29, moving down from 26 for some seconds in the process, was NICE

Definitely excited for the upcoming season to see how Green develops in year 2, Can KPJ find more consistency and efficiency and now what appears to be a great draft haul, we might be pushing a play in game next season or next year with another high draft pick.

Rockets hit it out of the park. Literally fixed the defensive issue and added spacing and unlocked Senguns game. Then added TyTy who will become a complete point guard in time while stealing 2 second rounders in the process. Wow!

I'm a couple of days late reading this and obviously have the benefit of hindsight, but what a trash trade. There is no scenario in which HOU would prefer Toppin and Quickley over Smith Jr. They would both be backups to other players currently on the roster (Sengun & KPJ).

Why is your board so dead? The last two drafts have been amazing and you guys have one of the funnest young cores in the league. Sengun alone is just pure joy to watch play basketball and Jabari Smith is the perfect PF compliment to him. I'm basically a Rockets fan at this point lol.

Yep, they really need a true PG to emerge cuz I don't really like KPJs fit, so hopefully TyTy can emerge to be that guy, but on paper this roster is basically fully fleshed out with perfectly fitting pieces and tons of young talent.
