Lions saying they see him as a DE apparently. One other comment from scouts:

Impression: Possesses an impressive physical/athletic skill set, a “plus” motor and a real passion for the game. I don’t think he’s ever going to be a top end pass rusher in the NFL. However, as a 6-8 sack guy long term who can help out on special teams and give you all he has play in and play out, I think he warrants a second round type grade.

In the 4th round I love it

I love Lewis for value, 2nd round grade but he's a better 3-4 OLB than 4-3 DE. Gets to learn from KVB. Can cover some and gets hands up in passing lanes well. Looked great vs. TAMU and Texas, struggled vs. Baylor and OSU.

I talked to DL Coach Kocurek about Lewis in Mobile, he likd him.
Trade down was smart. Extra 6th = RB.

TSE wrote:Haven't scouted him, but seems like our first value pick. I think we reached on the first 3 when we could have traded down for an equal or better choice each time. Man we suck at drafting. At least every pick has at least had some positional logic to it that we can get use out of these players.

I can guarantee you you're wrong about Reiff and Broyles, they were not going to last. Bentley might have lasted more picks and depth at CB is still decent so that could hav been dealt. But the first two you are just flat wrong. Trying not to be mean but enough.

I agree Reiff and Broyles wouldn't last, I only claimed we could get them OR a better choice. I don't necessarily say they weren't the best OT and WR on the board, just that another positions BPA would have been a better strategy. That's not getting good enough value for the picks, and the trade down would have given a much better profit than to take the better positional choice as well, that's a HUGE opportunity cost which is the key point.

I'm wrong about nothing as you completely misunderstood the sentiment of my comment. This is at least the second time you have acted like I was wrong this draft season by assigning a perspective to my opinion that is not my own.

Traded to top of 5th to get Tahir Whitehead, LB from Temple. Glad we are loading up on D now

Gave up a 2013 4th rounder to get him. Like that we are grabbing LBs, but scouting reports are not too flattering from what I can see

Whitehead a hitter with closing speed, kinda redundant with D. Hogue from last year but more finished product than Hogue. Not getting the trade of 4th in '13 to jump there. Will help special teams.

Sweet, selling higher value picks of the future for lower round value picks in the present, and then reaching. This draft is a disaster with multiple blown opportunities.

Got a 7th from Minny this year too. Eagles beatie tweeted they liked Whitehead a lot, worked out with some Eagles in offseason.

We still have a ton of picks left then. I know we need a RB still, and maybe a developmental QB, but are we really going to keep all these picks and load up and see what sticks?

Same thing was said about Hogue. You can only have so many decent depth and ST guys. That's our entire roster sans the few really good players. Yet somehow with 3 dozen depth and ST guys that suck as starters, we have crappy depth and ST.

Trading in here w/ OAK. Praying it's George Iloka, coach won't tell me.

Chris Greenwood CB Albion. FREAK athlete w/ great size/speed/strength numbers. I haven't seen him play since 09 though. Some draftniks I trust who did liked him a lot.

Oh well yeah obviously Chris Greenwood never would have made it until 158. Let me guess, he's good for CB depth, possibly nickel help, and will help out ST?

Special teams are criminally underrated and make a big impact. Especially in a division with Cobb, Hester and Harvin; arguably the best KR/PR division in the league.

And how do we have too many depth guys? LB is Levy, Durant and Tulloch starting with Hogue, Palmer and now Whitehead for depth (I may have missed somebody). What's the issue? You can't have all-pros on your bench at every position

CB competition is good. Only gave up our second 7th to move up, so no real loss there.

RB in 6th, QB in the 7th?

Gave up later 7th to move up a few spots. Runs sub 4.4 but very straight-linish. Project, probably practice squad next year.
