He and his agent both badly miscalculated the DE market and the relative turn towards conservative spending habits by most teams. At least he was smart enough to go to high profile team on short deal, gets to be a FA again before he turns 30.

Delmas re-signed here for 2 years -- no word on the money yet.

Starting safeties -- Quin and Delmas. Nice pairing IF IF IF Delmas can stay healthy.

All comes down to how much is guaranteed.

Lets hope he stays healthy. If he can, Quin and Delmas is one of the better safety pairings in the league.

Elvis Dumervil fired his agent after he dropped the ball with Denver.

He has since hired Tom Condon -- who happens to also be Stafford's agent.

And we've already contacted them about being interested in adding Dumervil.

Would it be safe to assume that if we can extend Stafford to create cap space....that signing Dumervil would quickly follow with Condon? Could give us the inside track on adding Dumervil.

honestly Delmas, Quinn, have a legit argument for the 2 most dangerous safety pairings and combine that with a improving houston and learning trio of Bentley ,Green and greenwood. Our secondary will be least of our worries next year.

My concern now turns to LB position

The dots do connect but I don't see it. Dumervil is the worst run defense DE in the league and is a detriment when he's not getting his 10-13 sacks. Not worth the $$ and I've been told the Lions feel that way too. Patriots and Ravens will bid for him.

Sounds like LoJack is waiting by a phone that isn't ringing. The longer it drags, the more likely he returns.

IMO, Dumervil is an upgrade on Avril and would gladly take him for Avril-type money -- assuming we create cap space with a Stafford extension.

Any word on this extension? Why is it taking so long?

Lions didn't want to pay avril because he was basically dumervil, all sacks, no run stoppage. makes 0 sense to go out and pay a Avril 2.0. when they could have just resigned Avril and skipped all the intro work

Stafford more than likely won't sign a extension. Per all the reports i read, this is smart by stafford and his agent as there is no real incentive for him to sign a extension. he has all the leverage and is using it.

I think we can all forget the idea of Stafford redoing his deal, after seeing what Flacco got, he'd be a fool to do it now.

Homie is going to get paid on his next deal

"Versatile player," Kubiak said. "Very accountable. He's going to be there every week. Doesn't miss time; big leader on the field and off the field; class act."

About Quinn

Excited to have this player

We have a lot of confidence in those guys. They all have unique skill sets. Joique runs differently than Mikel and both present different things than Reggie. The combinations are good. Each guy will have a role; plenty of opportunity for everybody."

Also said Reggie going to be returning punts, which worries me

Free agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will visit the Lions Wednesday.

This is an intriguing fit for Heyward-Bey. The Lions are desperate for wideout help thanks to Ryan Broyles' torn ACL and Titus Young's meltdown. They also need a true burner that can take the top off the defense and pull some attention off Calvin Johnson. Heyward-Bey doesn't have great hands and isn't a polished route-runner, but he can certainly fly. The former No. 7 overall pick ran a 4.30 at the 2009 combine, the fastest time in his class.
