Lions vs Vikings 1pm EST

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Thu Sep 5, 2013 3:38 am

Sept 8 @ 1pm est

i don't know about you guys but i'm stoked.

Ansah did suffer a concussion but by the looks of it, he'll be ready for the opener.

My biggest worry is our LB corp hole assignment discipline and Rieff vs Allen. Should be entertaining.

I thought Ansah was already listed as out for the opener? And yes I'm also very excited

Things I'm looking forward to monitoring:

1) How many carries does Bush/Bell get each
2) Reiff vs Allen
3) How does the right side of the line (Warford/Fox) hold up?
4) Will we get a 2nd WR to step up?
5) Can the front 4 get a consistent pass rush?
6) Can we slow down Peterson at all?

from what i've read they are playing it by ear, but from all indications it seems they are at least preparing to start him

i don't think its a coincidence that Bell looks much improved next to bush, i think defenses struggle adjusting to bells style of running when they seen bush for a number of series. and vice versa. i'm sure they game plan for it, but there's nobody on anybodies practice squad that can simulate bush

2) Reiff vs Allen

idk why , but i have a feeling that Allen is going to dominate him and bring up questions about our OL. Some feel that Waddle i believe is a better LT, and Reiff is a better RG.

3) How does the right side of the line (Warford/Fox) hold up?

i'm more concerned about the running lanes they don't create

4) Will we get a 2nd WR to step up?

This game is going to expose or solidify our offense in terms of if we have a legitimate #2 WR. i fully expect some sort of horrible trade if we lose and it was a glaring need

5) Can the front 4 get a consistent pass rush?

i'm so excited to watch our guys blow plays up

6) Can we slow down Peterson at all?

Nope, traffic to the game is the only thing that's going to slow up down

Stafford seemed to be concerningly inaccurate in the preseason. This is the first report i've heard anyone say that its because he was going to get hit. i found it funny that our OC said that when he threw the ball away he had perfect mechanics. love that Michigan sarcasm

Fauria >>>> Pettigrew

Typical Lions first half. Penalties, miscues, turnovers, stupidity. Wow

Well we won. Second half was way better. Offense looked much improved (as it should have). Bush is the real deal and is going to be a gamechanger for the offense; Bell was excellent too. Fauria should honestly be TE1 and Pettigrew benched...he is awful. Other than that first Peterson run the D held him in check completely and had flashes of brilliance. 34 points with Calvin not involved for the entire second half is a good sign.

Lions looked solid against a decent Vikings team. I think they get better and better.

i missed our season opener, can someone who watched help me with a couple questions

1.) How did our Secondary look?

2.) How did our OL look

3.) Was our DL as dominant as we hoped

4.) Did stafford complete any other passes other than check downs?

5.) Did Ziggy do anything?

My thoughts from yesterday:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1766 ... 24-victory

Overall very pleased with the win and the play of both lines. Forcing turnovers is so critical and the '12 Lions couldn't do it. This team can.

17 Carries 15 Yards for the best running back on Earth, after that first TD run. Amazing job by the defense.
Also, Suh....Can't live with him? Or can't live without him? Even with his horribly selfish episodes, we're a better team with him, but he has gone from an automatic fan favorite his rookie season to a pariah. He knows what his issues are, he just has no self-restraint in the heat of the moment.
At the end of the day, it's not about wins and losses. Teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship make champions of us all.

Go arbitrary assortment of athletes! Beat the other arbitrary assortment of athletes or my mood will suffer!

Thx Jeff,

Glad to hear Stafford did well and looked comfortable, we have all this hype around bush and CJ, however Stafford is really the x factor

i'm hoping that a team out there needs a TE. I would love to see pettegrew go for a PON. Its just one game, but Fauria looks legit

You didn't post anything on how our secondary looked, i know slay got pulled but heard nothing about bentley or quin or delmas's play

To be honest i liked your old site a little better as you had a bit more detail. kind of like we were reading your note book. pictures are nice though. haha

Thanks man, I still run DetroitLionsDraft but it's more of a draft focus for me. I do have a couple of strong Lions voices there too, and I will have a thing or two on the Lions this week.

I did an extensive write-up of how the Lions shut down AD:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1768 ... n-peterson

Cannot express how well Willie Young and Nick Fairley played. Suh was also excellent, consistently stacking the double team. Also a very solid game in run support from Quin and Tulloch. Both facilitated several tackles by others by being where they were supposed to be and where the Vikings didn't want them.

i just read that pettigrew apparently had a great night blocking when he wasn't dropping balls and fumbling.

As a receiver he was so useless though. I really dislike Pettigrew

I truly hope Fauria is TE1 going forward. In the red zone it isn't even fair to throw him a jump ball

Return to Detroit Lions
