Round 1 Pick 10: Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA (A)
Round 2 Pick 13: Jimmie Ward, SS, Northern Illinois (A)
Round 3 Pick 12: Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (A)
Round 4 Pick 11: Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU (A)
Round 4 Pick 33 (COMP): Bryan Stork, C, Florida State (A)
Round 4 Pick 36 (COMP): Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin (A)
Round 6 Pick 13: Terrance Mitchell, CB, Oregon (A)
Round 7 Pick 12: Chris Boswell, K, Rice (A)

mock draft from SBnation

Only problem i have with this is i'd rather draft a CB in the first round if we aren't addressing it in the 2nd or 3rd. i definitely like the Mettenberger selection in the 4th.

I do think we should consider moving one way or another, as 10 is just a bad spot for us at this point. I'd kinda prefer to move down and pick up an extra pick or two, draft someone like Mosley or a WR and have some flexibility from there.

If we did move up, I would almost consider Mack over Watkins. Mack would bring the D together nicely

Agreed, unless someone falls to #10 because teams go QB crazy, i don't like our options at 10. If we trade down, i'd expect the first round selection to be CB,S, or WR.

i haven't seen much film on mack so i can't really comment. It be really hard for the lions to pass up CJ,Tate,Watkins and Bush, especially considering that WR has been such a issue. On the other side, defense wins championships, and Mack would play OLB/DE?

Yeah Mack would play that role. We have been public with wanting a guy who can play in space and rush the passer and I think Mack would fit perfectly. I also think Barr is still very much in play at 10 for the same reasons. Kinda like Ansah in that he is a major project who could be a beast

If you look at the mock i posted from SB nation above, seems that it is similar to your line of thinking. Is mack really that much better than Barr?

Pure pass rushing I think Barr and Mack are pretty even, but Mack edges him overall imo. But he should, Barr has only played defense for two years Most all of Barr's issues (doesn't use hands well, limited counter moves, run recognition/contain) can be fixed with coaching and experience. I think Barr has a really high ceiling.

Our very own Jeff Risdon (Icness) has brought up the DT from Pitt, Aaron Donald, as a possibility at 10. Says that with the uncertainty surrounding Nick Fairley, Donald would step in immediately as the third tackle and be ready to fill Fairley's spot if/when he leaves.

i am all for a DT at 10 if he grades out there. I would prefer a player like Jason Jones that can play both DT and DE

Kiper continued his defensive theme for the Lions in the third round... by giving them another cornerback -- Rice's Phillip Gaines. It's bad enough that Kiper gave the Lions a cornerback in the first round, but two in the first three rounds? I know this isn't necessarily meant to be a projection, but just no. The Lions have already taken four cornerbacks in the last two drafts, and the last thing they need is two more young guys at this position, especially that early in the draft.

Instead of overloading the cornerback position with even more inexperience, the Lions would be better off letting Darius Slay, Chris Greenwood, Bill Bentley and Jonte Green sink or swim this year. That's not to say that the Lions shouldn't try to get better at cornerback, but they have already devoted a lot of draft resources to this position, and now it's time to give these guys a shot and see what they've got. Using two more early picks on cornerbacks is simply not wise, especially when the Lions could get better value at positions like wide receiver, center and safety.

Per Kiper

My opinion on our CB position. despite spending 4 picks on the position in the past we still do not have a #1 CB. Houston was that player, but has digressed, while others think he'll bounce back, truth is CB tend to trend downwards. If we are going to address that position it has to be either in the late first round or in the second round and has to be a stud player. I'd rather go SS and address other areas.

I really don't think Mike Evans is going to be there. Someone is going to reach for him

Based on what i've read, it seems that way. We need QB's to fly off the board. Also we signed Vaughn, seems like a depth CB.

Yup.

I still think we look LB but OL could still be a possibility. If one of those tackles were to fall, grabbing him and moving Reiff to guard. Not saying it is what I would do, but it is feasible

i hope the pick would be LB or SS. As much as i would love another OT, its really low on our areas of need, however its hard to argue to not surround our QB with the best talent. i would hope that if we are picking BPA and its a OL, we trade down.

from day 1, our coaching staff has preached we can't have enough CB's. Bringin back mathis is for depth, the other guys we signed are more training camp invites. I still think CB's in play, but i hope its not.

Khali Mack is making a pre draft visit.

This may be knee jerk, but drafting mack makes the most sense. He's suppose to last til 6, so he'll be a little cheaper, he completes our LB core and can be used as a DE. He's also the 2nd-3rd best player in this draft. We address multiple needs and get a impact player

Jean Baptiste is a intersting prospect in the 2nd round , however i think SS is more pressing a need than CB.

We also signed some more camp bodies, however its noted that both are 6'1" +, we are looking for big corners . i for one am happy about that

Oh god I would kill to get Mack...he is perfect for us. Probably not happening though

It might be knee jerk, but i really get the sense that we are going to move up and grab 1 of mack, watkins, clowney or even evans. The tone from the top is win now, any 1 of those 4 players legitimately could be a impact player than who we get at 10 and in the 2nd round. If you look at our picks statistically in the 2nd round. We'd probably be better off trading it than picking. (i believe you may have brought that up?)

For what its worth, and I thought I'd pass it along as it was interesting and from the 'I didn't see that coming' department.....TE Ebron has recently expressed his belief that the Lions will be drafting him at #10

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000 ... -be-a-lion

Former North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron told a team he recently visited that he expects to be drafted by the Detroit Lions.
