I could see a loss here sure, but a blow out? Not a chance. It's fun seeing a lot of pundits pick Minnesota as one of their sleeper teams yet again, but for like the 6th season in a row now, a Kirk Cousins led offense isn't striking fear into the hearts of anyone. And it's not like their defense is as talented as it was 3-4 years ago.

*Jameis Winston started against us last year in our week 1 blowout loss*

Eh, wasn't a division rivalry game and Winston was actually awesome in Payton's system last season before the injury (5-2 with a 102.8 QB-rating). Anything can happen, but again, always betting against Kirk vs. a quality opponent is the golden rule. I think the pass rush is gonna eat him alive.

Stoked to see how the Corners play this year, on paper I feel like thats the best defense theyve had week 1 in a very long time.

I know they were pissed he didn't get the surgery in the off-season. He waited until after the Saints game. The whole thing is behind a paywall but this is Z

Should be a good game. Vikings coming in with some hype, Packers kind of the opposite. After the blowout in week 1 last year, hopefully we don't see similar.

I don't know why people are mad at "Z." the packers are known to move on quickly from players they don't seem to think is in their future. and athletes use ANYTHING for motivation. Aaron is probably going to use the negative comments about him admitting to lying about the vaccine for extra motivation.

Z didn't bring a culture per se, but he did bring some swag and personality to an otherwise dull and trash defense. the defense still sucked with him (i blame the coaching staff), but he didn't really change the culture. good luck to him in Minny, where ex-packers go to become key members of 7-9 teams.

Rodgers on McAfee yesterday about Watson

I might have to change Dave Bakhtiari's nickname, because this kid might be the new baby giraffe, or more like a deer because he's just prancing and flying around on the field," Rodgers said about rookie WR Christian Watson on The Pat McAfee Show, via CBS Sports.

"This dude's got incredible stride length. And really, for a man who is 6-foot-5, his speed is legit. It was nice having him. He's a different type of receiver than we've had. A guy that big with that type of stride length with that speed."

Having undergone knee surgery during the offseason, Watson joined the rest of his teammates in late August after being selected 34th overall by the Packers during this year's draft. Head coach Matt LaFleur admitted the North Dakota State product is just getting started, but also said he expects to count on Watson for Week 1.

"I think he's still got a lot to learn," LaFleur said. "We're trying to acclimate him as fast as humanly possible. We'll have a plan for him [for Sunday], and we'll kind of see where it goes."

One of the biggest concern heading into the offseason was the level of talent among the Pack's group of pass catchers.

How are Pack fans feeling about that group heading into regular season game #1?

I’ll be surprised if Dillon and Jones aren’t featured heavily in the passing game.

I think we will be okay, but largely because the vets are going to be getting the start. Rodgers has made it pretty clear he expects Sammy, Lazard and Cobb to be the guys getting most of the targets. Wouldn't surprise me much to see a Watson and Doubs package or two.

Z is pissed he didn't get his 100 million, despite being 29 with back issues. Remember, he lobbied hard. Now he might get just 6 million from the Vikings. I can understand his frustration, but it's a business and he was a bad bet. A year younger and a healthy back and he could have banked 100m. Not being named a captain by his peers only makes it easier to disregard him

Now that he's no longer here, it's going to be really annoying watching Z lying on the ground to stall 5x a game.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some team wide resentment for waiting until after week 1 to do a surgery the team recommended Z do in the offseason.

Given the heat waves across the country, I'm gonna keep an eye on games in places like Miami, where it's dangerous to even be outside.

Return to Green Bay Packers
