Stenavich moved up to OC and we have a new OL coach (Luke Butkus). As Buck said above the OL is getting schooled. I don't give a **** if Jenkins should be elsewhere on the line, he shouldn't play like a rookie out there. Maybe his knee is balky but he's been piss poor. Last year we didn't have Bakhtiari and Jenkins got hurt in November. Myers got hurt too.

The Rams game, we scored 36, had a line of Nijman, Runyan, Patrick, Newman and Turner. Rodgers was sacked once.

Getsy gone
Hackett gone
Steno promoted from a job he excelled at to one he probably wasn't ready for

Maybe yet another layer of many as to why things have collapsed. Or just stick with blaming the guy that makes $50m

He's legit been a downgrade from Barnes

How does this happen? Is he bad or is Joe Barry ruining him??

He’s a blocker magnet. Watch Quay in these Saquon Barkley highlights. The 2 running plays he stares into the backfield until a blocker locks onto him. In the pass play he mysteriously plays man to man on a tight end in route and vacates a zone for Barkley to catch a pass in.

So you're saying with all these changes it WOULD have been good for the entire team to be practicing together. I'm glad you've finally seen the light on the obvious.

I think either you take the lumps with Walker out there in coverage and run stopping, or start using him and his athleticism as a pass rusher.

Yeah, thats what makes this so jarring. They have been throwing out random lines for 2 years and they've been solid the whole time.

Nah he has an agenda and sticks to it no matter what. Tiresome.

Agreed. Has he done much rushing? I don't recall him doing that. It would be a nice change of pace, mix things up.

He's 6 games in, I still have high hopes for him (and Wyatt). It's not like Gary was a stud from day 1.

I read somewhere where Walker is pass rushing something like 15 percent of the time which isn't nearly enough. Campbell even less at around 4 percent. We're lining up our front three and our OLBs and making zero effort to Disguise where the rush is coming from. Our secondary isn't getting involved in the blitz at all. By percentage, because we're bringing 5, we're number one in the league in blitz percentage, but we're not actually blitzing by the true definition.

I think they don't want to drop an OLB but it probably wouldn't hurt to drop them in the middle of the field in zone

I'm fine with letting Quay take his lumps in pass coverage, and it's not like the pass rush has been an issue at all. But then it just makes it all the more baffling how the scheme is not in any way maximizing his speed there. Not putting him as a spy on Daniel Jones in the 2nd half last week? Have him "hand off" zone coverages when even the veteran players are struggling to communicate on that end? Basically just "making a rookie's life easier" 101 type ****, but for some reason we're not doing these obvious things.

And WTF with special teams. We bring in arguably the best special teams coach in the league. Give him tons of input into special teams personnel. Some of the guys were brought in specifically at his request. And we have another kick blocked for a TD. It only takes one guy to blow an assignment but this is pathetic.
.

I am numb to the special teams at this point. They had two kicks blocked both because of blocking fails. Game is completely different if you dont blow it on ST again. Not to mention the complete lack of any threat of a return on punts.

Depends how you'd define it. Because we bring 5, which is one more than your traditional 4-3, it's "technically" a blitz, but not actually if that makes sense. So if you define it as, bringing an extra rusher, we didn't. If it's based on number of rushes, we were. I think the larger issue is that we don't mix things up at all. Gary one side, Smith the other, three linemen, bull on all accounts. We're not moving them around and having them rush specific gaps, or different angles. It's as plain as it gets.

Even the backbreaking Breece Hall play, you literally had Rasul Douglas lined up in the same spot our typical 3-4 would. If you have Walker going downhill in the same package, instead of sitting back and watching the play develop to read and react, that play likely gets blown up in the backfield. As it stands, Walker seems to see the play, take a horrible angle, and overpursues. That's the type of thing where we're going against ourselves and actively complicating what Walker is doing as a rookie.

With the blocked kicks, did anyone else have flashbacks to the SF playoff game?

You weren't alive for the last Packer Super Bowl win (2011)?
