Northwestern must be pretty bad.

Yeah, it's Northwestern but they put up the most points NU has had scored on them all year and tied PSU for holding them to their lowest.

Didn't see a second of the game. Unrelated to how I feel about the team :)

I said (IRL) coming into this game that I expected us to play well this week - lots of emotion, it's just one week, and it's Northwestern. Let's keep the momentum now. It'll be hard, and it won't be perfect. Just need something to latch onto and feel good about.

I am obviously being very cautiously optimistic about the Mertz performance, similar to his first Illinois game. The only big takeaway for me was a percentage of RPO type plays I saw from Engram and more shotgun running plays. That's what I wanna see. But maybe those run those things and suck next time they face a decent defense.

NW looked awful, like really, really bad, but based on their results they seem better than a 1-4 team and this is a decent win.

Blowing the doors off of bad teams is also a sign of being decent/good. I'll take it.

As noted, I'm hoping the shotgun/RPO stuff is more common now. I was one of the least vocal Chryst guys, but that was the one thing I think that had universal agreement.

Of course Northwestern isn’t good, but if that game didn’t excite you at least a little, I’m not sure what would. It was still a road game in the big ten and we won by 5 TDs looking great.
