Well, the Jets took this approach and it worked, so I think it's more like this than the other hypothesis.
Does he just want people to show up unannounced? Does he have an assistant they have to go through?

Come on New York media you need to keep grilling him.

Here is Gutekunst exact quote. He said Rodgers didn't even respond in any way.

Brian Gutekunst said he tried to contact Aaron Rodgers “many times” this offseason to discuss how he fit in the Packers’ future.

“Our inability to reach him or for him to respond in any way — I think at that point … I had to do my job.”

If the Jets are 4-7, do they start Rodgers in game 12, knowing it will put him over 65%?

Last year showed that Aaron is going to want to keep playing until they are mathematically eliminated.

So you're saying it will be his decision?

Honestly, I think that's going to be an interesting story to follow. The Jets FO personalities are completely different to the Packers, and to some extent the driving conditions are too. Saleh and Douglas are working to keep their jobs and will want the best combo on the field to ensure wins; and Johnson will demand return on his huge investment in Rogers. Those two conditions may/may not be in sync, depending on the teams record and function late in the season

Rodgers won't sit so the Jets can keep their first round pick. He's playing for his career statistics as well and that stuff matters to him.

If the Jets are bad after 10 games it's likely because Rodgers got old quick so at that point the Jets will plan on cutting him after the year anyway and they won't give one **** what Aaron wants to do. And if he's bad the fans and media will turn on him and support the benching.

Johnson will demand a Fall Guy in that case. Saleh, Douglas, or both will get thrown under the bus, IMO, regardless of who drove the deal. The Jets will have made a humongous commitment of cash and significant draft capital to bring Rogers in, when other less expensive options were out there. Somebody's going to get whacked for that gaffe, if they don't achieve a playoff run.

For sure, Woody will fire guys even if it was his idea to bring in Rodgers. That's what owners do.

Was just saying Aaron doesn't have equity built up with that team or fan base. If things go bad they won't care about his feelings. He's also owed another big bonus in 2024 so if he's just not good they will move on and consider the trade a sunk cost.

Do you think they will tell him no, especially if they want him to come back in '24?

Once the trade papers came, Douglas pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and took a picture, thinking about how wild it was, what the documents in front of him meant. And then he called Rodgers.

Hey bud, it’s done, Douglas said. You’re a Jet.

Figuring it would take until the first night of the draft to be traded—the revised contract would have to sit for a day, by rule, meaning it’d have to be done a day ahead of the second round—Rodgers reacted with a mild level of disbelief.

Really??

So Rodgers must not have been at his house when Douglas called him.

Nothing really of note in there. But it makes me even more hopeful the Jets bomb next season (with Rodgers playing 65% or more, of course).

My takeaway: It sounds like Rodger's mobile coverage is excellent at his home in Malibu.
