Please don't be another Amari Rodgers.

I don't like this pick, hopefully I am wrong.

I don't see the Rodgers comparison. The only notable thing on his profile was that he was beefy and strong. Didn't have speed or quickness and was only ever gonna be a slot guy iirc

I liked Hyatt more than this dude, and I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did on the board.

They aren't really similar style players. I think the comp is more because neither tested that great and is a slot WR but that's pretty much where the comparison ends imo. Reed is much faster while Amari was bulkier. I don't really like the Reed pick but I wouldn't expect an Amari type of player

Kirk is Amari's NFL comparison:

In-game speed looks pretty similar in their college film. Amari somehow got slower when he got to the NFL and that's pretty rare, but they're not as far apart as prospects as you're making them out to be. Watch one of Amari's college punt returns and you wouldn't even know it was him unless someone told you. That said, apparently the Packers tested Reed with a much faster 40 than his listed time, so that's good. But everything I can find about his hands and ball security (admittedly, I'm not sure which sources to trust) seems to suggest some concerns there as well.

Can this guy return kicks or punts if Nixon is sidelined for any reason?

He was first-team all american as an all-purpose player two years ago. 1000 receiving yards, 2 punt return TDs on a 21 yard return average. Definitely worth trying out.

Some scouts were saying Reed was the best punt returner in the draft, so I'd be surprised if he wasn't given a chance on special teams.

I expect him to return punts even with Nixon on the team. Nixon was a great kick returner but not great on punt returns

Reed reminds me a bit of Jahan Dotson. Jahan Dotson reminds me a bit of Greg Jennings.

Reeds punt return # look pretty special actually.

Freshman year 17.9
Sophomore only 2 returns
Junior 21.6
Senior 8.8

Low enough volume that one really long return skews the average

Matt Harmon does a thing called reception perception or something like that looks at all the routes that guys run and does some kind of scoring. The short version was that other than Post routes, Hyatt was absolutely terrible.

Seems to me we are getting a much more complete WR in Reed. Watching the senior bowl routes and his feet are absurdly quick, had a little Adams in them.

The more breakdowns and highlight reels I watch of this guy, the more I think that he might be the WR I'm most high on on this roster. Watson is great, but I'm not sure he has the capability to be that high volume give me the ball guy (and all over the field at that). Reed strikes me as someone who could be that. I can't shake seeing Stefon Diggs.

Ran a quick twitter term search, and see there are a few others who think the same.

He's extremely impressive. I didn't know anything about him prior to the draft. After watching a few videos, I was surprised he "only" ran a 4.45 because he looked like a legit sub 4.4 guy. I'm not surprised that the Packers had him at 4.37. He has serious top end speed and burst.

His ability to catch contested balls is also extremely impressive for a player of his size. It would be impressive for a player of any size. You love to see a smaller guy go up and consistently beat out CBs on 50/50 balls.

I love the pick. He seems to be exactly the kind of WR that is "flawed" according to NFL logic but could end up being much better than several WRs taken before him. He also happens to be exactly what the Packers need right now in their WR group.

Yep, we have our boundary guys of the future but a dynamic slot and a guy that can run after the catch was a massive need.

So they are saying Keon Coleman entered the portal to leave Mich. St. because he feels Reed should have been a 1st round pick and the QB play held him back.

I hope he is right.
