That and maybe opponents playing from behind and needing to pass rather than get 6-8 yard runs that the defense is happy to concede because it runs clock.
Yeah that's what I was trying to say. Probably didn't phrase it the best

Ah, I see now that you were basically saying the same thing.

In any case, landing the first punch might be even more important than usual in this one. And Jones has to be great again, obviously.

I want the Lions for the chance at the Super Bowl pretty bad. They loving the smell of their own farts a bit too much after slipping by the Rams. Would love to assert dominance on the division in the biggest way.

To add to this convo, someone mentioned in the game thread that receivers weren’t running this wide open with rodgers running the offense. Might be recency bias but that take seems correct. Cowboys looked like they had never seen motion before.

Wonder if combo of Aaron locking in on specific guys so the defense could better prepare their scheme whereas Love seems to spread the ball around. Also, I think others may have mentioned, but this could potentially be the offense that MLF actually wanted to run and build off of throughout a game. Aaron would check out of a lot of plays, so hard to build off plays when you have no clue if/when Aaron was going to change the play. Just a thought.

If i remember correctly, in lafleurs 1st or 2nd year, there was a point where the WRs on the packers were up there in the rankings for WR separation on routes run. not sure what it was last year, but those receivers outside of doubs and watson were old and slow and rodgers buddies so this could explain some of that.

Slowness may have been part of the issue, but there was also a lot less motion and misdirection and creative play-calling last year. It was a huge step back for MLF and the offense, but now I think it's obvious that they just capitulated to Rodgers in order to persuade him to re-sign, which I still think was just plain dumb. That era clearly needed to die after the SF game, regardless of his 2021 stats or their 2021 record.

And by the same token, the WRs were a lot more open in 2020 and 2021 in part because of Adams but also in part because Rodgers was more willing to buy into MLF's offense after 3 consecutive years of decline (2017-2019).

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Who is the backup holder if Whelan is sidelined? Clifford?

An already shaky kicker with a new holder...yikes. I'm assuming it's Clifford.

Just like last week...I hope they look like they belong and don't get blown out. Anything beyond that is a bonus

Sign Pat O'Donnell back to Enagbare's roster spot for the week if they actually need a punter. He's not good but he's a vet and we know he's a good holder for kicks

I get people are gonna say A Jones and Love are the keys to this game (and they absolutely have to perform to have a chance) but the real two key players imo are K Clark and Q Walker.

If Clark isn't living in the backfield taking on doubles and Quay doesn't have a monster game in both run support and in coverage against Kittle its gonna be a score we just aren't gonna be able to match no matter how well Love and Jones play

Karl Brooks is my breakout candidate in this one. I think he's ready to have a game he'll never forget.
