Malachi Corley seems like a player MLF would love to have. He would be my guess if we take a WR in this draft.

I think someone takes Corley tonight. For Wilson I'm talking 6th, 7th round unless I'm missing something. He's just a project not taking him with a day two pick.

Then again our third round picks are usually projects.... horrible third grade science projects.

Trotter's a mediocre athlete though. Wilson is a freak.

That's the trade off. One is potentially another Quay type while the other is potentially another Devondre Campbell type.

I'd be fine with either or Edgerrin.

Team has enough injury issues. Wilson is a walking injury. I’d be fine with him in the 3rd

I personally wouldn't be mad at all about drafting another OL today. Hell im fine just ignoring the D in general. No matter what they seem to do that group always plays the same so just build an awesome O and hope for a couple big plays a game on D.

He's had 3 season ending injuries in his career, is 24, and has 6th percentile arm length

6th percentile arm length for a LB as productive as him feels like a real 'elbows too pointy' thing but I have no actual idea if that's a real problem. I wonder what correlates stronger with NFL success: arm length or speed, acceleration, and production? Karl Brooks is kind of the current poster child (in my mind) for the "Production is King" school of thought, but I wouldn't read too much into results on a single player.

3 season ending injuries is obviously a real problem.

The annoying thing is when people are so confident in knowing which one ends up mid and which one ends up all pro. I get it that it's fun to pull for guys you know and want to be picked but come on, no one knows ****, even a lot of the people paid to do this

Arm length Shmarm length. He's a rangy, play-making middle linebacker, not an NBA power forward/center. I obviously like Cooper better but I'd be fine with Wilson in the 2nd round, preferably 58 though.

The funny part would be if we still land Cooper in the 2nd round. Everyone is so mad we didn't take him in the first round, but nobody did.

Also, I think there is more of a chance they are both mid or below that. That's the draft....it's how it goes. After hitting on >80% of their picks last year there is a chance we miss on a few this year. As the great a**h*** once said "R-E-L-A-X"

The Lions thought they had to leapfrog the Packers in order to get Arnold. If the Packers did like him, not using one of their many draft picks to ensure they got him was incredibly stupid.

I enjoy this thread. I don't have the time to spend doing all the analysis some of you do. I appreciate the insight and opinions.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think with the combination of how many picks we had and the fact that as soon as we were on the board our pick was in, there is little chance that we were all in on Arnold.

At most Gutey looked at Arnold, Mitchell, and Morgan (maybe even Wiggins/Guyton) and said "well one of those guys is probably going to fall to me and I am happy with any of them." I believe Morgan was their guy. I think Mims was their top prospect but that wasn't possible without pulling a Viking type of deal so they were happy with Morgan.

Or it was smart if they liked Arnold and Morgan equally and spent nothing to get one of them

You guys should watch the CJ Stroud video when 49ers got Pearsall. He was really hoping for him in the 2nd round. I don't know much about him but he does look like a playmaker.

Or they never considered Arnold at all. I don't know. I think they could use top talent at premium defensive positions, the draft's best defenders all fall into tradeable range, and Gute sat on his trove of draft picks.

I really hope he hits a home run tonight.

Gute has taken, Alexander, Gary, Savage, Love, Stokes, Quay, Wyatt, and Van Ness. I'd say that's a pretty great track record with zero bonafide busts, so hammering him for yesterday's pick seems weird.

We all saw the Gutey plan begin to blossom last year right? I even say that as someone who wanted to do more for Aaron in terms of weapons, etc. Agree or disagree with the way he went about it, the transition sort of looks like a masterclass right now. Our "rebuild year" was 9-8 with a divisional round appearance and a game we probably should have won.
