Sorgi Signs One Year Deal

Post#1 » by PR07 » Fri Apr 13, 2007 8:01 pm

Veteran backup quarterback Jim Sorgi signed his one-year, $850,000 restricted free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Sorgi has worked behind starter Peyton Manning since the team selected him in the sixth round of the 2004 draft.
Sorgi, 26, who has appeared in 10 games, has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 619 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.

Not a shocker, but it will be interesting to see who will win the #2 QB with the battle being between Sorgi and recently signed John Navarre.

I can't imagine that Navarre will outplay Sorgi. I feel Navarre is competing to try to convince the Colts to keep 3 QB's, or to be the guy we hold on the practice squad all year.

Sorgi's like the Maytag Repairman of the NFL.

I remember when Payton took the hard hit this year, can't remember which game, I'll have to watch my Super Bowl DVD again, after he took the timeout and went over to the sidelines, he said later in an interview that he told Sorgi to warm up quickly, and Sorgi just had a deer in the headlights look on. Peyton finished the story with, "Not exactly how you want your backup QB to react in that situation, but we love him anyways."

Wasn't that in the Patriots AFC Championship game when he hit his hand on Tarik Glenn's helmet?
