WR receiver is the biggest need, but we could draft just about any position on defense except DE. We could also look at guard. I just don't want us to get too focused at one position, I think that's the main reason we drafted Troy Williamson.

I'd rather look for a LB, CB, or DT in the 1st round. Go after a WR in FA.

I believe free agency is before the draft, so maybe we can cross a position or two off before, but if we miss out on the big-time recievers it will still be a priority during the draft.

go defense early and often. We have a solid, but rapidly aging defense - not that inspiring. Harrison Smith is the only guy I'm confident in being a good starter 3 years from now. If we're going to run ball control offense, we need more talent and depth on defense.

I've got to think there's next to zero chance the Vikings draft a QB in the first round. I did love Barkley at the end of last year and wouldn't have minded if we had taken him if he had come out, but he didn't play like a first round pick this year.

Robert Woods in the 1st, Honey Badger in the 2nd - that's a guaranteed A+ draft. I'M CALLING IT NOW, MARK THIS DOWN.

Pending the Percy Harvin trade going through, what do you see the Vikings doing with their two picks (especially being so close together)? Packaging them and moving up, or just making some solid additions?

I think one will be a WR and one will be a player in the defensive front 7, likely a DT. They'll be taking at least one other WR in the middle rounds, good year for depth in that area. Think Corey Fuller, Rodney Smith, Conner Vernon, Alec Lemon, Dan Buckner, that range of player.

Most of the writers seem to agree with his take, and it makes some sense.

now that the vikings have signed jennings do you think getting a wr in the first round is still a top priority? or will they go defense for both? (need a lb, db, and dt)

We still could take a receiver but I think it allows to wait until round 2 or 3 if we want. We can can take BPA instead of focusing on a specific position.

Yeah, I'd probably expect more BPA now. Although, the latest rumblings sounded like they were expecting a rookie starter at MLB...hard to see them being confident in a rookie starter from below the 2nd (maybe 3rd?) round.

Now that we have Jennings, CB is a must imo in the 1st. There are some decent elderly stop-gaps in free agency, but we need some youth. I'm really liking Banks now in the 1st. If they went w/ a WR like Woods or Williams w/ that other 1st or via tradedown in the 2nd, I wouldn't complain b/c I think there are some intriguing names they need to look at, but there's no playmaking at all right now in the secondary, and there's enough names being thrown around out there that I think the time is ripe to go CB in the 1st.

The only 2 guys I'd take in the 1st that aren't a WR or CB is Chance Warmack and EJ Manuel. Warmack seems like a pipe dream, but if he dropped into reasonable trade up distance, I'd love to have that luxury the offensive line would be unbelievable. As for Manuel, I think he is just worth taking that shot. I'd trade Ponder for him all day. Manuel is bigger, faster, stronger arm, and was more productive in college.

EJ Manuel? Is there something about him that you specifically like? He's typically tagged as a 2nd rounder and probably wouldn't be the consensus top rated guy available at our pick. If I were to go for a QB high in the draft, I'd probably use our 2 first rounders and try to move up for Geno Smith. But given that we signed Matt Cassel, I'd assume were not going to take a QB until later in the draft if at all. A couple of guys who I might be interested in the 3rd/4th rounds would be Tyler Bray or Tyler Wilson.

I just think the hush around him is suspicious and his skills are too intriguing and too in tune w/ the evolution of the position to not go really high. Won't be surprised at all if a team trades up and tries to land him early. I expect actually because there's not a comparable prospect. For teams looking for that dual threat QB, it starts and ends w/ Manuel. Geno Smith is likely a top 5 pick, we don't have the ammo to get in there.

It's not that Manuel is a guarantee, it's just that he has the package of skills a team w/o a QB can take an aggressive chance on. I think late 1st/early 2nd is a lock.

It's a moot point on Manuel since they picked up Cassell and the team is prepared to captain the Ponder sinking ship till it's at least halfway down the Mariana Trench, but I wouldn't mind being the team to take a chance on Manuel.

i'd rather not bother with a qb early in the draft, the team is committed to ponder and they now have a (fairly) solid backup in cassel, they probably feel like they are good there

what are your guys' thoughts on teo? i'd really rather not have him, but i've also heard the rookie middle lb rumors...
