Still on this drive. Two passing plays to targets behind the line of scrimmage. One to Rudolph and one to Cook. They still won't fully commit to positive positioned targets.

It's crazy how Thielen's and Diggs targets have been basically cut in half the last 5 weeks. I honestly would love to hear a long sit down conversation with Zimmer on his decision to go away from those two and instead lean on a struggling rushing game instead.

It's crazy, its almost like Zimmer should've been a little patient and actually tried giving his rookie kicker some confidence, instead of throwing him under the bus whenever he got a chance and kept adding pressure on him.

We waisted a 5th round pick on a kicker. Then cut the kicker after 2 weeks. Then that kicker has become a good kicker. What a complete waste of a pick.

Completely agree. It's something functionally wrong in our system hurting Kickers here. I guess if they don't understand that then they might as well keep trying to find someone that can't be hurt by our special teams systems of doing things. But it was definitely a waste of a draft pick and the Coach certainly used him as a scapegoat. Vikings lost plenty of games without him since.

Ya don't get me wrong. I hated the pick, but don't shoot yourself in the foot by then getting rid of him 2 weeks into the season. Hell at least keep him on the roster and sign another kicker, don't completely throw away a pick 2 weeks into the season.

I don't know if it's our special teams coach, Zimmer berating kickers in the press whenever he can or a combination of both. But the special teams suck

Side note: I miss read the ticker. Carlson only 1 FG this game. My overall point is still the same though haha.

Yes and it wasn't just "leaning on a struggling rushing game isntead", as you said, their targets were cut in half and they also choose to throw to other players, like passing to backs and tight ends more, and the length of routes dropped through the floor. The length of all routes for everyone is what really killed the offense, hurt the rushing game, and got the OC fired. Even in this game we are still seeing many passes at or behind the line as a target. It should be much more rare and for screens only. Even a screen can a positive two yards down field. It's really a joke on fans watching. This isn't about winning games. It's about attempting to limit turnovers and getting fired for incompetence looking plays on the field. Only, their entire choice of how to play offense is incompetent. The whole second half of season they've only really attempted to play offense for two quarters a game, if that in many of them.

Gutless coach gets you a gutless team. Can they still win this game? Sure, maybe. But they will make it hard on themselves even if they do. This is why this team can't win in the playoffs with this gutless+scared+conservative ideology.

Probably a bit of both. They gain no confidence for a reason. The rest of the team has confidence issues at times as well.

Andrews asked Zimmer at half what needs to happen in the 2nd half, Zimmer says we need to run the ball more haha.

Maybe try opening up the offense a little, give your running game some space to operate. It seems like Zimmer's go to thing is to blame the offensive play calling and wanting more runs. Dude it doesn't work!

Exactly that. Zimmer is only worth laughs now.

Need two yards for a first? Furthest pass route is 3 yards. Can't make up how horrible this coaching staff is. Keeps the entire defense all bottled up in the same area. Might as well had run the ball with three run blockers.

As soon as they send receivers past the first down market, this time more than 8 yards downfield to Robinson, the Defense is committing interference penalties. Same as the first deeper shot to Thielen in the waning seconds of the first half. Why doesn't this coach understand the positives of this. Does he not see how Cook got breathing room for a 10 yard run in the second half? It's because of these more normal passes they are attempting at times. Just a few go a long way.

I can't even blame Cousins. He has a crap line and the coaching staff has gone out of it's way the 2nd half of the season to kill any chance for him finding a rhythm.

Oh you have got to be kidding me! Zimmer throws a challenge flag on the spot of the ball, that basically happens after they QB sneak for a first down. You have got to be kidding us.

Cook ran out of bounds just shy. The spot wasn't great but he probably was a hair short. Maybe a review gives it to him, maybe not. But if you are going to throw that flag you have to decide before your own team runs the next play for pete's sake. To negate your own first down sneak like this now...

No kidding. Guy needs to retire. He had a good coaching career. It's time to get out of this team's way now.

It's just maddening football. We'll see if they can finish this game with a win or not. But this is one of the very definitions of backing into the playoffs and playing half a game in so many weeks this season just makes it undeserved.

They have zero chance playing football this way in any playoffs in any year. From the schemes to the conservatism, to the in-game coaching foolishness. I'm just ashamed to even say I watch this team.

Let's be honest. This team didn't deserve to make the playoffs

Defense is just spent. Most the the 4th has been one long tedious Bears drive. All those (5 or 6 straight) 3nouts by the offense to start the game took a lot out of this defense.

Then you have the great defensive coach of Zimmer not having Cornerbacks bumping at the line in a short field situation. Aikman is calling out the defense for getting gouged because of that for easy Bears catches. Zimmer should be on top of that. He can't even see it.
