schedule is out, doesn't look too bad

late bye week, no more than two road or home games in a row, and not a terribly difficult stretch other than seattle, dallas, and kansas city all on the road 3 out of 4 games (with a bye)

how did we get unlucky enough to play at seattle two years in a row?

It should be 4 lineman brought in through draft in order to assure you absolutely find at least one you can count on helping this year. If out of 4 they happen to get two good lineman to use some this season, it could get them deep in the playoffs.

But I expect to see runningbacks and linebackers and you never know, some kind of kicking phenom and more defense. After all, this is the Spielman show.

Defenders dropping like flies early. You know Zimmer is twitching already.

Arizona must have been trying to move the #1 pick, or Josh Rosen behind the scenes. What are they going to do with two Heisman QBs? The NFL is full of the oddest people making the oddest choices. Mr. Rick Spielman Vikings goof extraordinaire will be making his odd choices very soon. All you diehard Vikings fans prepare yourselves. It's superbowl or bust everything season! The pressure is at an all time high for this draft. I have no doubt this will be the draft equivolency of a bag of suagr donuts. Shake it up and get all that sugar off the bottom Rick. In Rick they all hope.

Not an exciting pick, but what we needed.

Definitely could have been worse. Probably could have traded up to grab one of the 3 that went just before but at least getting one lineman was a major move for King Rick. Everyone, that means all 4 of you, cross your fingers that he takes more.

Probably need at least 1 more lineman who can challenge for a job, and maybe a developmental guy after that.

Taking two more lineman would be wise. Of course I see runningback and tight end in the reflection of Rick's eyes and the coach will have a knipshin if he doesn't hear a Defenders name called soon.

Would've preferred another offensive lineman. But won't lie, I wouldn't mind seeing more of a two tightened look, with Diggs and Thielen out wide.

I called it. RB and TE. This is called history repeating itself over and over again. The only thing different is maybe that he chose a player in the third round instead of giving the 3rd round away entirely as in past.

Everyone that follows the Vikings closely would have understood seeing two Offensive lineman selected in the first two or first three rounds. Nope. Has to get another TE and RB too early. It's in Rick's genes.

Next up, another lineman but in the later rounds. All you can do is hope this one ends up a sleeper steal in the end and hope he's not a dud. They need every bit of help they can get on the Oline in order to outdo their consistent poor offensive coaching and leadership. But when the leadership doesn't understand how they hurt their own offense each year, how would they then know how badly they need to go completely overkill on the Oline to make up for themselves?

"Maybe we'll see more two tight end sets now." Anyone ever heard that said before? :banghead:

2019 Irv Smith TE (Already had Rudolph, Morgan, Conklin)
2018 Tyler Conklin TE (Already had Rudolph and Morgan)
2017 Bucky Hodges TE (Already had Rudolph, Morgan, Rhett Ellison)
2016 David Morgan TE (Already had Rudolph, MyCole Pruitt, Rhett Ellison)
2015 Mycole Pruitt TE (Alreadty had Rudolph, Rhett Ellison, Chase Ford)
2014
2013 Added Chase Ford (late 2012 season PS add-2013 to Roster) (Already had Rudolph, Carlson, Ellison, Resiner)
2012 John Carlson TE signed as FA to massive contract. (Already had Shianco, Rudolph, Reisner, Sasser)
2012 Rhett Ellison TE/HB (Already had Shianco, Rudolph, Reisner, Kleinsasser)
2011 Added Reisner TE UDFA in July after NFL lockout. (Already had Shianco, Dugan, Kleinsasser, Rudolph)
2011 Rudolph TE (Alreadyhad Shianco, Dugan, Kleinsasser)

Adding Rudolph was supposed to "allow more two TE sets". Same was said after all these TEs were added, multiple added per years occasionally. Their offense almost never even attempted to utilize two TE's at once aside from using them as extra blockers.

10 TEs added in 9 offseasons. History just keeps on repeating and fans keep wondering why the team year after year ends up having to add extra TEs as blockers for an Oline that can't ever hold its own.

When people keep saying he has one more year to prove he can build a winner, all they get in return is more TEs.

9 picks today, i expect a fair amount of defense (none so far!)

d-tackle and cornerback for sure, a flier at a third wr to compete with treadwell would be nice. a few more o-lineman would be good, might get lucky and have one hit

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2019/4/27/18519452/minnesota-vikings-rick-spielman-2019-nfl-draft

Q: How is Coach Zimmer doing, with only offensive players being selected?

A: Coach Zimmer was actually very happy we got the offense going, but also every time we do trade back it’s irritating to him. But he knows we’re going to get some really good players tomorrow. He was ready to unplug the phones again, like he is every year.

A 3rd round lineman would have been nice, we really need someone who could challenge for a starting spot at guard or fill in for an injury. I didn't see a need for a backup running back in the 3rd round. Still need to cover a few other positions as well.

Return to Minnesota Vikings
