Patriots injury report: Collins to miss third game in row
Tom E. Curran | November 21, 2015

FOXBORO - As expected, the Patriots ruled out linebacker Jamie Collins and cornerback Justin Coleman for Monday night's game with the Bills. Neither player was able to make it out to practice this week. Coleman has a hand injury that he tried to play with last week against the Giants. Collins continues to recover from an illness that left him seriously diminished. This will be the third straight game he's missed.

The Patriots listed offensive linemen Sebastian Vollmer (concussion), Tre Jackson (knee) and Marcus Cannon (toe) as questionable for this week. Wide receiver Keshawn Martin was also down as questionable with his hamstring injury. Among the probable are DT Alan Branch (elbow), DE Chandler Jones (abdomen) and offensive lineman Shaq Mason (knee). Defensive end Jabaal Sheard seems to be back to full health. He is listed as probable and had full participation on Saturday.

Julian Edelman's timetable for a return still remains unclear

Patriots leading wide receiver Julian Edelman underwent surgery for a broken foot last week, and while many are projecting his return for the playoffs, any precise timetable remains very unclear, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Edelman himself is certainly hopeful of being able to return for the postseason -- particularly if the Patriots hold on to a top seed and get a bye -- but doctors do not have an exact schedule in place, and his rehab will dictate when he can come back.

Given the position he plays, how much weight and pressure his foot must bear and how late in the season he suffered the injury, the Patriots realize there is no guarantee they will have his services again this season and will take their cues from the medical staff as to what becomes a realistic return. In general, some would point to a six-to-eight week recovery, but this injury can be tricky and New England will be careful about how quickly Edelman is brought along.
