I think this makes sense.
At he 4 aren’t we looking for 3 point shooting, rebounding, strength around the basket, ability to guard on the perimeter. While not as explosive or dynamic I’d id still give the nod to Smith over Toppin in all the key categories. I think an argument can be made that Smith’ play merits more than the 18 or so minutes he currently gets backing up Turner. 5-10 more minutes a night for Smith might improve our sorry rebounding numbers.
I get what you are saying,. but not sure I'd want to do that now, if at all. Stix is finally in a place where he is being really, really productive. He's learned this role & how it fits into the team dynamics. He's fought for it, and earned it. It might be worth experimenting with him taking on more roles over the summer, leading into next year, as a way to get him more court time. But after last year, I'd like to see him have a chance to succeed, and have some fun for a bit before the next change comes along. But, that could just be me,.. =]
