Philly should also be able to create a traded player exception for Furkan's salary. ($ 5,370,370)

A year or more ago? He went full time on the beat for this season, so he’s been present everyday of practice and whatnot.

I’m ok with the 3 second round picks haul since Buddy wanted out and wouldn’t be back. Both are on expiring contracts so not stuck with a bad contract for the future. Not excited about the 2 players acquired being helpful though.

It was better to get rid of an unhappy player to not upset the team chemistry and most importantly clear the way for our youngsters to get more playing time.

Hopefully Pacers can flip Morris and just let Korkmaz expire.

I'm a little unclear of our motivation. I understood the argument to trade Buddy to preserve the salary slot, but we traded his expiring deal for two more expiring deals. I suppose that means he really wanted out and this was the best we could do.

Really feels that way.

Rumored contenders wanting Buddy probably had nothing we wanted and higher draft picks. Kinda sucks that they couldn’t find a piece that could fit in the future plans but I’m sure they have a plan.

Could we hold the salary spot this summer by resigning Jalen Smith?

Scoot???

I thought there was a reason to trade for someone making near what Buddy made but on a longer contract. for example, Wiggins.

Theoretically,.. yes,. we could resign Stix to a salary large enough (assuming he can keep the contract a positive value) to keep the trade flexibility. But,.. that's if he wants to resign with us,... and, once he does resign, that we actually want to trade him. I have to believe that if we resign Stix, it's going to be to keep him around longer term, as a part of the maturing, developing team.

If we traded for someone with a complimentary contract value, that could get close to positive value on the contract, that we don't see as a longer term commitment, without them becoming a free agent, then we would have a movable asset this summer when other players are likely to become available...... (Like Bruce) =]

Edit: good example - see post above - McDermott..... Edit, Edit: OK,.. bad example,.. he's also an expiring contract... =/

Doug McDermott is also an expiring contract player at 13,750,000. Fits more than Morris. Thank you Spurs.

I hope CoJo is just emergency insurance lol. I do not want to see him playing over any of the guards.
