Cardinals @ Cubs Series Thread

Friday Day Game: Braden Looper vs. Rich Hill

Saturday Day Game: Anthony Reyes vs. Sean Marshall

Sunday Night Game: Kip Wells vs. Carlos Zambrano

Monday Day Game: Joel Pineiro vs. Ted Lilly

Thoughts: Like usual we have a disadvantage in all the pitching matchups, but that hasn't stopped us lately. Hopefully the offense keeps up the greatness, because I'm thinking we're going to need it. If we take 3 of 4 I will be a very happy camper, but hell why not go for 4 of 4. Hopefully this happens:

The pitching matchups work out perfectly for us. We don't have to use Marquis and don't see Wainwright.

For some reason I really like this Pujols guy.

Tough loss, good and entertaining game regardless though.

I can't believe how good our starting rotation is lately. If they keep this up I'm going to start calling them the "Five Cys."

Good game today, we just ran into a pitcher who had it all working. If we keep playing like this we will hang in the race the rest of the way.

For some reason I don't. It seems like he always homers against us. :x

Crap, I'd much rather win. Sunday it's Wells vs. Zambrano? That's doesn't seem good.

Yeah, yeah, but you guys got the W, and thats all that matters.

Hopefully the Cards can get at least one of these next 2 games.

It seems like we could have won the game today, if only we would have turned that DP, the Cubs would have been scoreless, oh well, I guess thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

^^And we got lucky the umpire called Pujols out at the plate. He may have missed home plate but it was too tough to tell on replay.

Rain delay at the end of 7 in Chicago with the Cards up by 2. C'mon rain. This game has already become an ordeal. Good to see Albert and Rick go long in the same game!

And we win after a long rain delay!

I can't get enough of reading good stuff like this:

Ankiel, the pitcher-turned-outfielder, made a great throw in the first to cut down Chicago leadoff hitter Ryan Theriot when he tried to stretch a double into a triple. Leading off the seventh against rookie Carmen Pignatiello, he hit his fourth homer to put St. Louis up 6-4.

I'd rather the Cardinals won two out of three, but the team can move on with good feelings again.

Props to Pineiro for another decent outing.

I couldn't watch the game, but I caught the highlights later--Ankiel has one heckuva rifle out there.

If he can ever close some of the holes in his swing, then we've got ourselves a damn good outfielder. Even with the holes, he's been terrific so far.
