M's news (July 29 & 30)

Post#1 » by BlackMamba » Mon Jul 30, 2007 3:41 pm

The first one is about Ichiro getting to 1500 hits, becoming the 3rd fastest player to get there (1060 games).

The other one is a rumor that the M's are maybe checking out Tampa Bays colser Al Reyes. I don't think there is room for him in Seattle.

I almost dont want us to make a move because I am scared about what Bavasi will do. I dont think he has ever made a good trade for us.

The Mariners will probably do nothing at the trading deadline, even though they ought to field calls for Vidro, Jose Lopez, and Broussard. (Yes, that Broussard.)

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those calls to arrive...

Touche, hippie. Nevertheless, I want to see the Mariners field some calls and look to deal for prospects. Not dismantling the team, per se, but removing some of the spare parts. I bet we could get a couple of starting pitching prospects with the right deals.

Wow, I'm shocked that idiot Bavasi didn't pull off such a horrible trade. :o

And I dont want Jones or Wlad the Impaler getting traded for anyone other than a big name player.

Yahoo has us trading for Al Reyes(closer). I can't really trust them anymore...

Apparently we traded Julio Mateo to the Phillies...no word for whom.

Evidently, the Phillies are where we go to deposit our worst pitchers. (Garcia, Franklin, etc.)

It was for Jesus Merchan.

Dont know much about him, but apparently he's a shortstop that hit .330 with 16 doubles, 7 HRs, and 44 rbi for Philly's Double-A affiliate.

Works for me.

He's 26 year old and in AA...

But that doesn't mean it's not a good trade. I'm sure Mateo and his fly ball tendencies will do very well in that tiny Philadelphia park.

It's a Bill Bavasi trade...did we honestly think we'd actually come out as winners? Even in dealing a player who wouldn't play in the majors again for us.

At least he'll probably be good enough to call up to Tacoma.

Where's he gonna play at? Don't see anyone taking the game off as there's a day off today...

Play vs the BoSox, oh how fun.
