Witherspoon really needs to focus on playing the ball once in the air, he usually has pretty good coverage

He was in perfect position on the TD he gave up; he just can’t turn around & look for the ball.

Yeah that pass was under thrown and to the inside. If anything else, he should have been in a better position to catch it than Diggs.

He struggled last year too. He might not have the mental makeup to play corner, out in an island.

I wouldn't give them extensions after one good year. May end up a great year if they win.

Even then, there's a question of whether it can be sustained.

Looks at last year's Super Bowl teams. Rams didn't make the playoffs and Patriots lost in the first round.

Let's see sustained success.

To take a bottom of the barrel roster and turn them into a Super Bowl team after a few years is generally all ownership needs to see

Well, they got one extension done

49ers signed passing-game coordinator Mike LaFleur to a contract extension.

This will keep LaFleur in San Francisco after receiving interest from several teams. It's a blow for the Eagles, who were rumored to be targeting LaFleur. Philly may now turn its attention to 49ers run-game coordinator Mike McDaniel for their OC job.

That roster had Buckner, Armstead, Tartt, Sherman, who are all starters.

Also Staley.

But also they had a lot of cap space and very high picks, starting from their first year.

They went and got Sherman. Outside of that you named 4 players. Think about that for a second.

They acquired Bosa, Ford, Sherman, Kwon, Warner, McGlinchney, Juice, Deebo, Sanders, Jimmy G, Witherspoon, Moseley, believed in Ward, Laken, etc.

To not give them their deserved credit in not only roster building but maximizing talent is absurd.

They took a bottom of the barrel roster and made it one of the best in the league. They made players who were thought busts play at a pro bowl leevl

Oh I give them a lot of credit, especially for the trades.

But they had clear misses in the draft.

In any event, my point is it came together well this year but no guarantee the success will continue. In this age of parity, it's only 2-3 years a team has a contention window and then they fall back.

Seems like the impact of good young players on rookie deals is bigger than ever now.

Lets see how they draft from the back of each round. They may do well, because their record with high picks is mixed while they found some good later round players like Kittle or some UDFAs.
