Hoping to see some very large men (300+ pounds) being drafted by the Niners today.....

Deebo created some easy scores, especially in the Philly game.

But you'd think that as time goes on, that ability to evade a lot of tackles and turn a short reception into a big gain diminishes.

I don't see teams eager to give the 49ers a lot of draft assets for a player who carries a big contract. Some speculated that Bills might be one of the teams interested in a trade. But they rely on Allen creating big plays and they don't necessarily need a big YAC guy, more like some big target who can make big downfield catches when Allen stays alive long enough to break down coverages.

Yeah, hard to say how other teams value Deebo. Presumably they aren't morons. They know the red flags we see. Though they will get him at a discounted rate as we're on the hook for pretty sizable bonuses. And as said, Deebo really is one of one. So hopefully there's a market for him. If not, then we have a kick-ass receiving corps for a year and try to go the distance.

The deep fake was better than the actual.

DeJean would've been a better value pick at 31, just given that his name consistently seemed to be in the range of 16-22 and I really like the player.

Maybe not the most talented guy available, Pearsall's skillset screams 49er. Not a big dude, he plays bigger than his size, tough SOB. Excellent route runner. QB play at Florida was pretty bad. He's an older prospect, so I do think the 49ers believe he can play right away. Is it a Deebo Samuel replacement? It's probably gotta be done today if that is the thinking. Bills/Patriots rumored, I'd look at 60 or 68, plus something later like early tomorrow or 2025. Gonna be tough, but I think you gotta go with Aiyuk if picking to keep one.

After sleeping on it, I've evolved a bit on the pick.

I now have 3 + things to say about the pick:

1) As mentioned previously, at least they didn't trade up to get him
2) At least they didn't go DL in the 1st round again
3) This pick likely means that we won't have to suffer watching Trent Taylor on return duty. Trent probably doesn't even make the team now

The only thing I kinda dont like is that Pearsall will already be 24 when the season starts. A little old for a rookie.

Yeah, it's an old class. Of the end-of-the-first and beyond WRs, I think only four are 21 or younger. Ladd McConkey and Roman Wilson are almost 23. Xavier Legette is 23. Ja'Lynn Polk and Malachi Corley are 22. Malik Washington is 23. Devontez Walker and Jermaine Burton are almost 23. Seems like tons of players spent five or even six years in college. Still, all else being equal, you'd rather have the younger guy.

These are the next three available Offensive Tackles listed on the fifty best available players on CBS sports site

Christian Jones
Roger Rosengarden
Blake Fisher

Christian Jones does not seem like a Kyle Shanahan type of OT

I get that. But if this season is our last, best chance for a Super Bowl before many of our vets will become salary cap casualties, we will need guys who can contribute now. Having already had a 5-year college career, Pearsall should be more ready to make some type of immediate contribution as a return man/extra receiver similar to Ray Ray McCloud this season. While there has been a lot of talk about the future of BA, Deebo and to a lesser extent Jennings, I am viewing Pearsall as an immediate replacement for Ray Ray and a potential starter next year depending on which receivers we can re-sign. In that regard, being 24 with 5 years of college experience could be a benefit.

I'd take any of the three. Kiran Amegadjie, too. Those are the four guys I'd be eyeing at some point on day two or three. Oh, Brandon Coleman, too, though I think some teams view him as an OG.

Why don't you think Christian Jones sounds like a fit? He played in a similar offense in college, and has experience at right and left tackle. He's old (almost 24), and of course a flawed prospect or he'd go two or three rounds sooner, but I'd be very happy with him in the fourth.

The scouting report states he misses blocks out in space. Under his weaknesses the report makes sound like he would not do well in a zone blocking scheme. Shanahan seems to get guys who are good in space

First 2 picks of round 2 are WR. Coleman to Buffalo, Chargers trade up for McConkey.

Man. Eagles get two of the three top corners in the draft. Wild.

Must be nice to address an immediate issue instead of drafting for 3rd or 4th player depth

I just don't understand why they don't use a draft pick to trade up. It's not like all 10 will make the team.

I would have been fine with Rosengarten, but the Ravens took him.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
