Packer fan here. Word is Mike Nolan our new defensive coordinator. Can you guys give me a detailed scouting report on him ? I've heard a lot of mixed opinions. It would be great to get your perspectives, thanks for the help.

McCarthy worked under Nolan here, so it kind of makes sense.

Personally, I see Nolan as kind of unflexible. He seems to have a game plan in mind and then doesn't adjust when necessary. He tries to fit pieces where they don't really belong. For instance, using a 3-4 when your personel probably dictates a 4-3. Then, there was that whole 4-2-5 scheme against Seattle where Manny Lawson doesn't play one down of defense. Just odd.

He's probably ok, but not any kind of difference maker.

He uses those 3 schemes Hop mentions(3-4, 4-3, and 4-2-5).

Likely depends on personnel. I thought he should have used more 3-4 in his last couple years.

Really? I agree with Hopper, we should have done more 4-3. We don't have the dominant NT or pass rushers that a 3-4 defense needs to succeed.
