Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
Great draft by the Seahawks the two guys they drafted in the 1st round give them an A for this draft already. Trust me about Thomas I watched him enough to know that he will be an elite player in the very near future. I also would wonder if they would take Colt McCoy with their late 2nd round pick if he is there? I think he would fit in quite nicely as a backup now and a starter in the near future.

Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
Since the team passed on Clausen at #14, I think they've basically thrown their lot with Whitehurst.
The team has to add to its DL depth. Although, it would be interesting if Mays was still around at #60...I didn't like the idea of drafting Mays early, but if he falls to us at #60 he seems like a good fit at SS when paired with Thomas at FS.

Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
The problem I see with taking a running back is that we saw three go in the first round, and all three went above their generally predicted spots. With the weak class there may not be any value picks to be had this year, so it's a question of how badly do we need one.

So someone like Corey Wootton, Everson Griffen or Lamarr Houston is what it sounds like than. I would not mind seeing Mays at #60 playing along side Thomas but that would be one heck of a fall for him. I also wonder if Terrence Cody is still sitting there if the Hawks would grab him?

I don't know if Cody is a great fit for our scheme.

I don't know if anyone caught this article about Okung that came out yesterday morning, but it's worth a read. Seems like a good kid. I'm really not concerned about his meanness...Walter Jones didn't exactly come across as brash and mean either, just quiet and workman-like.

Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
I wonder if Seattle is regretting swapping seconds with San Diego for Whitehurst. Very likely that either Clausen or Brian Price, either of whom would be amazing in 2nd round, would be available. Heck, while it's not even that critical of position at the moment (compared with other glaring needs...) I absolutely love WR Golden Tate's game.
But for the 2nd round pick we actually have, DT Lamarr Houston (Texas) should be available... I know DE is a must have, but is there anything left aside from projects this late in the 2nd round? Kind of seems like slim pickings with this group.
My sleeper in the 4th is WR Eric Decker from Minnesota. Great talent from a criminally untalented college team.

Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
DE is a need, but DE's don't come in and typically make a huge impact as rookies. I don't know that I see anyone that would be available to us that I am completely wild about. Wootton seems like a nice gamble if the team is confident his health is where it needs to be.
DT is a big question mark for me. Mebane is a stud, Cole fails at what he was brought in to do, Terrill is roster fodder, and Bryant his potential that he may or may not harness. I think I'm more confident in Jackson/Reed/etc. holding the point at DE than I am in that second DT taking pressure off Mebane and pushing the pocket back/stopping the run.
I'd be happy with Houston at #60.

Good point about DEs... it's what, Jackson's third year? Could/should be in line for a big year.
I think most here are in full agreement about going DL today. Let's make it happen, front office.

Re: 2010 Official Draft Day Thread
adding a 4th was good enough to move up yesterday in the 1st for two teams, so I can see us moving one our 4ths tonight to go get someone we like.
Everson or Dunlap anyone?

If Dunlap falls to us, that's fine by me. I'm not sure he'll ever live up to his talent, but at #60 that's a gamble I'm fine with taking.

HA! I was just thinking the same exact thing, Sweezo. We could go from being awful at the safety position to potentially having perhaps the strongest safety combo in the game.

And it's official. We would have had our pick of Claussen or McCoy if we had stayed at #40. Whitehurst better be worth it.

OK. I admit it. I'm so bummed out we made that Whitehurst trade now. We could have had Okung, Thomas and Clausen. That would have been absolutely killer.

I wonder if we'll end up picking another undersized WR in Golden Tate if he falls to us? lol
