Clippers up by 6 at the half. I need to win by 12 to win my bet here in Vegas.

PG = minus-2
Zu = minus-4
Mann = ZERO [summing up his season so far]
Coffey = minus-2

BEARD = PLUS+10

12 point spread crazy. Mann has been better in the second half. Beard has been solid. PG not creating and just shooting is way better. Coffey not doing much.

Coffey is playing great defense. Positionally excellent. He does a lot if you’re watching closely

Needless to say, this would be a really bad loss.

Sorry Tom, only up by 2 starting 4th.

This has really been Harden's game. Solid contributions from others but Harden has outclassed everybody on both teams

hornets getting all the threes they want

only a matter of time before they start dropping and we're done for, with the level of scoring we have

Without Kawhi, this team sucks. PG shooting bricks, missing layups. Barely playing defense. 7-21 shooting. They are just not connected on either end. In their winning stretch Kawhi was shooting 60 percent and playing solid D. Without him, its just a hot mess of mediocre.

Paul George with lazy defense and no boxing out as mentioned by others.

They seem like they don’t want the win after 9 wins in a row. Maybe they are content or butt hurt that Kawhi is out.

Ty treating this as a scrimmage. Good coaching, but I'm on Vegas and need to win by 12.

Ty is smart. I am stupid.

Clippers DOWN 91-84?? To the 3rd-worst team in the NBA?

Hornets are horrible but are still real NBAers. Just don't EVEN @ me anymore about our rookies and G-Leaguers.

Mann is a 9th-man and placeholder starter. Coffey at least was undrafted and worked his way to the same level. Kobe is fckn G-League so let's cut that crap out too.

Ty is a damned good coach and has given them all burn. Just don't EVEN @ me on Ty anymore either.

Phew that was a lot closer than it needed to be. Ok they proved they can win a game without Kawhi. He can come back now…please

I’d start Coffee over Mann going forward when Kawhi comes back. Mann has a great record with the starters, but having the Brewmaster can’t be any worse than Mann production wise.

There is no 213 anymore. That's an insult to Kawhi's greatness. We can't treat Paul George like he is equal to him.
2023 Clippers W/L Count (51-31)
(Russ at bench 42-15)
without PG13 3-3
Without Kawhi 7-4
Without Russ 6-6

He'll be day to day until May and then we are gonna find out he had a hip surgery in December.
That's how his last couple season ending injuries were

Stayed up late to watch the historic Pistons game (felt sorry for those guys, especially Cade, but the Nets were not as charitable), then a few more close finishes around the league. Planned to pull an all nighter and also watch our game live, but found myself dozing off, so I went to bed just as it started.

Glad I only watched the highlights and didn't need them to cover any spread, because that was way more stressful than expected. But a win is a win, especially with a late comeback, and Charlotte came to play, their current record, losing streak and notable absences notwithstanding.

Just found out that the Grizzlies actually won, thought the Pelicans had it in the bag with 0.1s left. Turns out they were lucky to even make it to OT.

I was pretty worried about Friday's game before last night, so right now I'm legitimately nervous. Kawhi coming back and leading us to a stress free win is a late Christmas present that I'm still wishing for.

It would be a shame not to end such a solid month on a positive note. January's going to be quite the test for our championship aspirations, need to head into it with full confidence.

I think what happens is that the Clippers often want to punish themselves. Say they are one win away from a 10-game winning streak, or one point away from winning the game, or one thing that would put them in a pedestal all to themselves, but then they mess up on something so trivial, so common, that tiny microscopic little thing they overlooked because they were so caught up in the potential praise they would receive from the accomplishment instead of getting to it. The feeling of being so close to perfect only to have that tiny little blemish ruin everything makes them want to just lose the game because they blew at being perfect, so they stop caring and just allow to be absorbed by the doom and gloom.

As a sort of analogy, in the arcade video game Street Fighter II, if you win a round without taking any damage, you get a bonus of 30,000 points (later rounds bump that up to 50,000, and I think 80,000 on the final boss). Take a hit, you lose the bonus, and you only get 100 points per pixel of vitality. Some fighting games require perfection in order to unlock a bonus fight or secret feature. Blow the perfect, and your entire session is useless, which is what I sometimes see with the Clippers. There's a difference between perfection and perfect execution - one requires not making a single mistake throughout the game, the other is not making a mistake when it counts the most. This is one of the reasons why I've been referencing the Corpse Bride song "According To Plan" in most of my posts detailing some of the Clipper's fatal flaws.

There is a lesson to be learned here: don't worry about being perfect; we're only human.

From the outset it seemed that the game plan was for Harden to be the guy. And he delivered from minute 1 to minute 48. By the way, he played 40 minutes. LA Times story on the game robbed him of a point, said he only scored 28... he would have had 30 but he missed first of 2 FT's with about 60 seconds left in game, he had 29. His stat line was beastly - 29 points, 50% 3 pointers, 6 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals and one block... with (Tom are you listening) a +20 for the game.
