Heated Rivalry

rofl.

take a seat man

Improperly ejected? Bogut and Griffin both we're assessed techs for the tussle, which was the correct call by NBA standards. It's up to Griffin to not get drawn into the battle like that. Bogut is an old school hard nosed player that played Blake's emotions perfectly. Just out smarted him really.

It was a heated game, just like previous ones, which makes for a great rivalry really. We take this one, we'll see you next time!

Let's just all be happy the Lakers suck. :D :D

I'll admit, I look forward to this matchup more than any other this season even before tonight's game. You have a point about Bogut doing a good job of getting under Griffin's skin, but while that initial bear hug by Blake likely deserved a double foul given what Bogut did to start it, Bogut deserved the tech more for swinging his elbow right to Blake's head. Blake, if anything, deserved a personal foul, at most. Also, the tech he received from the Draymond Green incident was unwarranted since he didn't do anything after the elbow to the throat. The fact that both those plays happened in consecutive manner makes it highly suspicious that it was implemented by your team's coach, which is a cheapshot tactic akin to Jason Kidd instructing his players to bump into him to spill a drink to delay the game while his assistant is drawing up a play. Bush league.

Plus, you have a referee who apparently had an axe to grind given the article I cited in this thread. We'll see how the NBA rules on the technical fouls on Griffin after-the-fact. Heck, we just had one downgraded on Matt Barnes due to the shenanigans of Marc Davis, another ref with an axe to grind.

note to self:

not backing down is grabbing someone's jersey like a girl grabbing another girl's hair in a fight.

this is in no way similar to bogut pushing Blake and Blake pushing back....the confrontation was all Bogut's

and IDC about what u think he brings on himself.
he got hosed on both calls and that's the end of the story.
Blake doesn't have to behave above a reasonable standard of conduct because guys on ur team don't like him and want to take a run at him.

Oh cmon dude, Bogut was being aggressive on the box out and Griffin wasn't backing down. He didn't have to try and push into Bogut like that to battle for the rebound, he should be smarter and know that Andrew will NEVER back down. Bogez wasn't the one with the tech foul already, so he could stand his ground and have a shoving match against Blake, but Blake should be smarter than that and not put himself into that situation to potentially pick up another.

Another learning experience for Blake about what it means to be a smart, tough big man in the league. Guarantee he'll think twice again about shoving into another tough big guy when he already has a tech to his name.

So you are saying blake should not have gone for anymore rebounds in the game. Oh okay. thanks.

We can move on from this got buffer fish to fry. Let's enjoy the rest of our Christmas and hope for a w tomorrow.

We should be happy we were on the road without JJ and it took Blake getting kicked to lose. Even with the rebounding issues still had control majority of the game and still came close without Blake.

My bigger concern is Dudley he went straight back to being dog crap. All those long rebounds and minutes played and not one damn rebound!?! Not to mention terrible offense and defense.

Happy the team won't have to sit on this type of game long. Paul has to go to elite mode the entire game.

Mark Jackson's Reputation

Post#235 » by Ranma » Thu Dec 26, 2013 7:38 am

Lest we forget:

Kelly Dwyer, Ball Don't Lie (11/29/13)
Q: Do you think Andre Iguodala was Mark Jackson’s “mole”?

A: No question.

Q: Does that bug you?

A: I just think that’s media hype. I mean, that series was not a physical series. Everybody wants to be more aggressive with the guy kicking your ass, so . . . .

Q: The media didn’t say it. Jackson said it.

A: I thought Mark had a lot of tricks in that series that were bush- . . . I don’t know. I don’t know what they were. Almost high-schoolish. They were beneath the NBA level. And they might have worked. They might have motivated his young team in a good way. You know, he’d announce a starting lineup and start another guy. C’mon, man. You think we’re not ready for that?

George Karl contends that former Nugget Andre Iguodala was Mark Jackson’s Golden State ‘mole’ during the playoffs

You know this was in reference to it being exposed that the Nuggets game plan was to go after Curry's ankles? Oh the irony of yourself George Karl.

Pastor Mark Making a Deal with the Devil?

Yes, I did, actually, but that irony can also be applied to Jackson employing the same tactics he supposedly despised tonight. Plus, there is hearsay of Iguodala leaking game plans to Jackson while he was a Nugget before he signed on with the Warriors. Nothing concrete, obviously, but couple that with tonight and Pastor Mark Jackson doesn't exactly look squeaky clean.

You should have more of a problem with the refs than with Warriors player. Except perhaps Draymond, since that elbow was unwarranted.

Yes, Bogut grabbed Griffin's jersey and created a scuffle out of nothing. It happens. Basketball's a contact sport. It's not like he personally ejected Griffin. The refs overreacted.

"Maturity"?

Aww did I offend you? :(

You said what you needed to say, what are you still doing here? Obviously some hidden agenda that nobody around here gives a crap about, so scurry back to your hole you have your own board.

Trying to take some high ground while coming to this board doing some low key trolling, gtfo.

Spirit of Competition

Believe you me, I most definitely have a problem with the officiating, especially in light of the fact that they used replay to come to their egregious conclusions (second time in two nights this has happened BTW). The league shares in the blame, which started in its idolatry of Michael Jordan...but that is for another discussion.

Yes, basketball is a contact sport, but that is exactly the point. The Warriors apparently didn't think they could physically or athletically compete with Blake Griffin, which prompted them to employ less-than-respectable tactics. There's a difference between taking a hard foul and intentionally trying to take out a player with cheapshots. How could that be defined as sportsman-like or even professional?

You're right. Bogut was not so much to blame than either the refs or Mark Jackson, but he was still a tool in the shenanigans. Draymond Green, on the other hand, totally crossed the line.

I understand Blake's reputation for flopping and whining makes him a target, but you know what? He hasn't been doing much of that at all this season. Rivers has told the players to focus on the game and let him do the politicking and complaining to the refs and the players have been pretty much adhering to that, aside from the Chris Paul complaint on the clean block by Thompson at the end of the game. He also hasn't been flopping this year or at least as much as he used to by quite a significant amount. I actually thought Bogut did more flopping than Griffin tonight.

I've called out my own players for employing the European soccer theatrics since I think it cheapens the sport and Blake has been on his best behavior compared to last season. I also don't mind the hack-a-DJ tactic since that is part of the game and a professional basketball player should be able to competently hit a free throw, but what Mark Jackson and the Warriors did tonight was an embarrassment to both themselves and the league. The fact that they were enabled by the referees doesn't absolve them of their culpability.
