No idea why the Bulls would ever want to do that. I might make that deal regardless of what DJ wants.

Consolidating talent. We need to clear up playing time for guys like Mirotic and McDermott

I understand that, but you could just as easily trade Gibson for a solid SF and bet set.

I love DJ, but a front court rotation of Blake, Noah and Gibson while adding Snell to the wing would fix nearly all our problems. Not to mention adding a 1st.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

yeah lol.

almost hate that you offered that cause now you have clipper fans dreaming of things that'll never happen.

again basically only way i wouldn't do that is if noah were permanently screwed somehow. blake/noah/snell would be quite enough. adding a first? is doc rivers your team's gm now? lol

Am I the only one who is super confused by this?!
Doc won't play rookies so how will acquiring a second round pick benefit us?
Is this his way of thinking long term, or will this pick be a trade piece?

doc's either going to change his ways next season

or

he's not and he's just doing lip service and will continue red-shirting his rookies.

either way, even a half-blind **** like doc can see that a marginal asset is better than no assets (which he probably only realized after this year, btw), which is why he's trying to buy a pick in the first place.

The hell they wouldn't. Thing is, the Bulls FO is not creative enough to bring up this type of trade. Doc would have to present it to Chicago, if anything.

unfortunately, given that doc has limited functional ability as a GM (to put it nicely), there's no way in a million years he could come up with this. he doesn't understand the salary cap.

It's not really about playing rookies though, even the best 2nd rounders of the last decade didn't get much burn in their rookie years. It's about having some future options, building an asset that can either play in a year or two, or create some trade value that can be added in a package for a useful player. Like how the Rockets drafted Budinger, made him look mildly useful then traded him for a mid first rounder, like how the Pistons drafted Singler then they put him in a package to get Reggie Jackson, or like how the Mavs used Crawder to land Rondo and the Blazers used Barton in a package for Afflalo. Those players by themselves don't add a lot of wins to your team while they're young, but the promise of potential makes them attractive to other teams when you're trying to trade for a veteran or something else of value. Or you can hit the jackpot and get someone like Draymond Green or Parsons, but it's not realistic to expect that.

But they have to see some type of action on the floor first before any interest can build for a player. Plus most of the guys you just mentioned were 1st rounders

Nah, I specifically searched for 2nd rounders in the last half a decade, all of Budinger, Crowder, Singler and Barton were early to mid 2nd rounders.

You have a point about them playing some, though you don't need much more than spot minutes for them to show some promise. I thought Bullock was showing some of that promise before Doc gave him away.

Because Doc is our GM, I know what is going to happen. Sign and trade DJ to the Cavs for Haywood and their first round pick (24)! If the Cavs can find a way to throw Perkins in, consider Doc sold. Man, sometimes I miss Elgin Baylor!
