The talk around the media is Harden or Westbrook getting benched.

But I have a third candidate now. What would happen if the Clippers brought George off the bench?

If all he's going to do is chuck 3's and not be aggressive like the first few games I'm all for it

Down by 30 with a quarter-plus to go--what Coach Lue needs to do tonight is to leave the "starters" out there to the bloody embarrassing end.

HAVE SOME PRIDE. Try to only lose by 15. School's out.

Try not to die like a dog.

i mean the team's getting thrashed but they out there trying to figure it out. definitely appreciate that they haven't simply just sent everyone to the bench, because how would they figure anything out to begin with?

They might be the worst rebounding team in the NBA now. Zubac is pretty much worthless in this system. What they are asking him to do is not possible. He is not a switchable center.

What happened to PG being aggressive, ever since the trade all he has been doing is chucking 3's like he's Steph or Klay.

Agreed Zu is out of his league switching he looks awful and honestly feel bad everytime we play the Mavs because Luka eats him for breakfast lunch and dinner

The team added another perimeter guy, a point guard to be specific, another 20+ ppg scorer and all 4 guys are in starting lineup together.

Paul George was the secondary ball handler to start the season, in previous seasons he was even being attempted as the primary initiator. To start the season he would initiate the offense or be involved in the initial action many times and he had a good amount of time on ball.

Adding Harden mid season, not in the off-season where these guys go through a whole training camp and learn each other a bit (but even teams who get that sometimes still need like 10+ games), but just instantly. On the fly Paul George is put in the third ball handler role, and everyone is trying to work togehter.

So now he has to find his way to still play his game in that role even though that's never been his role as a star, but he's also now getting the ball in some different spots, not getting to attack as the initiator the same way.

Role players are obviously much easier to integrate on the fly. Complimentary players are easy to integrate on the fly (eg: primary ball handler and a shooter/finisher). 4 perimeter players, two primary ball handlers, a secondary ball handler type scorer and a just scorer are not a "complimentary fit".

It's going to be a rocky situation, but also not particularly surprising.

Let’s kill time by listing things less painful than this game. I’ll start:

I think we're agreeing [see above]

LEAVE THEM OUT THERE TO SINK OR SWIM
TO SUFFER
AND BE SHAMED

reward them with the 4th quarter off? like it's a win

so Beard's all rested up to lead the team to the tittty bars tonight

This just makes the Harden trade an even bigger disaster. We already had the players to complement the team we had. Lue just wasn't playing them.

Diabate and Brown have shown some really good things. Too bad Lue will glue them back to the bench.

Coffey is useless. Would rather watch Miller play.

wouldn't profess to be a basketball mastermind who understands what's best for the team, because there's a million different things going on right now, but it really feels like you need more of bones and mann to make things GO, and powell only caps our ability to do that.

This 4th quarter unit fought hard and deserves major credit after the blowout they were handed. All of them showed heart and their skills. Congrats to our subs and seldom used guys!!

The starters were dogs and looked depressed….+ Norm

Powell in now minus-27 in only 8 minutes. That takes some doing, lol.

Plus/minus isn't everything but when you're the worst one by a factor of 2, the problem is probably YOU.

Powell isn't helping, but this isn't really about Powell. Clippers have scored 11 points in the 2nd. If you had another guard in there instead of Powell it wouldn't have made any significant difference to Kyrie being hot, Westbrook forcing plays and taking bad shots with the bench unit, the bench units bad defense, and then the units with the starting players coming back in not playing well. Powell is one piece in the puzzle, but a team doesn't go -30 in 8 minutes just because of one player lol

A few points either way in one game is statistical noise but when you're TWICE as bad in a game as everyone else and the worst game after game, it's probably YOU.

Here's the thing--Powell has been leaking points since last year's All-Star break. I've been calling him out since then.

Clipper Nation has had its scapegoats but Powell has slid under the radar. He is owed $50+ million over the next 3 years and is easily the worst Clipper under contract. Nobody wants him and he's LITERALLY unplayable, especially with 5 guards [PG/KL, Russ/Harden/Mann/Bones] ahead of him.

Code: Select all

11 minutes 0 points 0 rebounds 0 assists 0-1 shooting 0 blks 0 steals 2 TOs

This is called a "gazillion." This is one of the worst possible performances in NBA history. Dude is a basket case. And we have too many other basket cases to prioritize him.

I thought I'd get in on all the fun. I can't believe there are still trolls here blaming THE COACH?? :rofl2:
