Jersey # game for the all time clippers.
plain and simple. I will start with a jersey number, the next poster name the player of that jersey number he or she has actually watched playing, then give another number for the next poster to repeat. if you can give a bit of a context why that player was reminded, that would make it even better. there will be players who may overlapp certain numbers, and it's okay to repeat the number later on but not in back to back posts.
here I start.
#5. who wore it?

Re: Jersey # game for the all time clippers.
First guy that came into my mind was Cuttino, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess you had Danny Manning on your mind when you typed the number
I was a toddler when Manning was playing for us, so I don't remember him in a Clippers uniform, but I know the significance of him, since he was the first player to get drafted by the Clippers since they are in LA and become a star. And he was also one of the first guys who had trouble with DTS since the start and wanted out asap.
I'm gonna keep it going with number 3

Great!

and Cat would have been a fine answer too, but yeah I was thinking of Manning. I initially had a different number, but thought better and wanted to start off with more significant players rather than those who are dear to just me.
as soon as I saw your number 3, I was snakebitten, but gonna keep the relavance going for now and say, Quentin Richardson!!!

okay, well now that we have this thread going, I hope not to reply until others join in.
the next number is... 35.

Loy Vaught "from his spot" was my favorite Clipper when I first started watching the team. He is still one of the longest tenured Clippers having spent the majority of the 90's here. For a team lacking stability, he was someone I could count on.
Next Number: 45

I think I'm gonna keep it on my favorite Clipper era and go with recently deceased Sean Rooks.mkwest wrote:Next Number: 45

Most of my memories of him involve him trailing on a fast break with Odom or McInnis or Dooling handling the rock and Miles and Q-Rich filling the lanes. Fun times, I love basketball because of that play right there more than anything else

RIP big man
Shout out to our most recent #45 though, he was here just one year but he'll be remembered!

I'm gonna keep it going with #52 which should be an easy one

Number 42 belongs to coach Mike Woodson from the time he played for that terrible Clippers team with Michael Cage and Benoit Benjamin. He could score too.

I'll keep it going with #13

Oops. Sorry. I obviously didn't look at the opening post and thought it was just a recounting of all-time numbers. I had a couple of other jersey numbers in mind but I want to go back to #45 since I had someone else in mind when mkwest brought it up.
The player I have in mind is one of my all-time favorites due to his energy and versatility. He was the epitome of a heart-and-soul player who got by more on his hustle than skill but played on some of the least talented teams in Clippers' history. He eventually went on to receive more recognition elsewhere.

being one of us the old timers that you are, I bet you were thinking none other than the energizer bunny himself, Bo Outlaw

how about one of my all time favorites, whose jersey I still own to this day, none other than the #4?

As the Fonz would say: Correctamundo!
Ron Harper has to be the player you're referencing for jersey #4. He was one of my favorite players outside of the Clippers before we traded for him and his teaming up with Danny Manning was one of my fondest memories as a fan.
I'm going to sit at least the next one out just because I want to hear from the rest of you guys, but in the meantime, I'll submit my high-school jersey number, #21, which I chose because of this other favorite player of mine who would eventually join the Clippers. Like Chris Paul, he was noted for being one of the best (and not to mention most exciting) players who hasn't won an NBA championship despite putting on a performance for the ages in going up against an NBA legend in one of the most epic one-on-one battles in NBA playoff history.
Another player who shared this number also happened to be one of the most exciting Clippers during his time here and, like Ron Harper, was traded for someone who would go on to become one of the most despised players in franchise history.

Who cares about Darius Miles, i'm going with Bobby Simmons. I met this guy outside of a bone thugs concert and pleaded him to stay with the clippers. Of course he didn't, went to the bucks, and lost his career.

I was 100% sure this guy was going to be a big part of the clippers future when he had one really good season and averaged something like 18ppg and would drain the 3.
I'm going with #11 now. This monster played 1 and 1/41 seasons with the clippers and is Croatian.
