Tucker's stats can only be measured through my Preventions metric. Every game he will have goose eggs in some category, points being the most obvious. But he can give you stuff that's not on the stat sheet, like contested shots, screens, set-ups, drawing turnovers and helping teammates defensively.

This is my data on Tucker back from 2014-17 vs. Clippers (I was cataloguing Clippers games only at the time):

Code: Select all

2014-15
Game 1: 2 for  4 PTS, 1.25 POSS, 1 SAVE, 1 HELP
Game 2: 6 for 17 PTS, 1 AST, 1 SET-UP
Game 3: 3 for  8 PTS, 2.25 POSS, 1 DELAY

2015-16
Game 1: 3 for  6 PTS, 1 POSS, 1 AST, 1 DELAY, 1 HELP
Game 2: 7 for 16 PTS, 1 POSS, 1 AST, 1 SET-UP, 2 HELP, 1 SAVE

2016-17
Game 1: 1 for 2 PTS, 1 POSS, 2 AST, 1 HELP
Game 2: 5 for 11 PTS, 2 POSS, 1 HELP, 2 SAVE
Game 3: 5 for 12 PTS, 4 POSS, 1 SAVE

* x for y PTS: Number of shots contested (hand and arm method, blocks, steals, offensive fouls, common turnovers) and total points prevented
* x POSS: Number of possessions prevented by steals, offensive fouls, offensive rebounds, shot clock violations, and other kinds of turnovers
* x AST: Number of passes prevented by steals, offensive fouls, and other common turnovers
* x HELP: Number of possessions where teammate helped another on a successful defensive assignment

If Tucker has games like this at this point in time, it might be because Tucker's value goes up when nearing playoff time. He's what you'd call a late bloomer, or playoff bloomer.

That one corner three from PJ was fun but should've had another player in to get those open corner three shots. We could've been up ten at the half. Shocked Kobe hasn't got any run in this game. Good to see Zu playing well again and I like Bones. I see him improving each game.

Up 3 while shooting 6 for 22 from 3s, thanks to 34 pts scored from the paint. Zu finally looking like himself again since all the injury/ilness.

Here come the fouls.

Awful start to the 3rd.

Does Plumlee have bacon grease on his fingers?

Maybe shoot a few more 3’s.

Holy crap. Boston on Giannis and Portis.

Bizzy Bones. Gotta live with his warts when he’s active like this.

Bless them they’re trying. Plenty of time left but we don’t have enough to keep up.

Man. Wish I would have skipped this game. Nothing but heartbreak.

Couldn't quite get there, but I love the effort. BBJ gave us good minutes, now I want to see Diabate and Brown get some chances too. The kids are not totally worthless and I think they give you a solid effort around some of the vets. Plus, lengthening the bench is needed for horrid schedules like this months'.

The NBA can suck it. I really wish Nosferatu wasn't the commissioner. He's a money hungry, damn the players health ass commissioner

I usually roll my eyes at the "schedule loss" excuse, but this really was BS from the league. But what else do you expect from the same league that gave us no extra rest after beating Utah in 6 a few years ago? I won't be surprised if we still get screwed like this even at Intuit.

Does Giannis ever stop moving on his screens?

Good to see Zu and Coffey get their scoring back. Bones, Norm, and Mann were good. BBJ does have defense in his bag. If he can get consistent with his jumper he's got a future with this team. Harden should've sat this one out too. I enjoyed watching Bones play more than him. Way too many minutes and shot attempts for PJ even though he had a few moments defensively.

Hopefully it won't happen very often, but if we ever do have to throw PJ out there for limited minutes in certain matchups, this better be the version of him that we'll get. Be a pest, set some screens, hustle for boards, maybe get a putback, take your open shots, make or miss.

Nice to see Zu looking like his pre-injury self against some quality big men.

Bones making shots is always a nice sight. Same goes for Boston, just wish he could be more consistent offensively. There's an NBA player somewhere in there, but time and opportunities are running out, at least with us. Whatever the future might hold, we'll always have this poster.

Ty Lue is a god damn c**k. This idiot chooses to play PJ over Kobe Brown because PJ went to the media and complained? Guys like Brown should get minutes over washed out morons like PJ.
Why this joker continues to be on the roster is beyond me. I can see Lue going to PJ in the playoffs and the entire board losing it collectively.
Ty Lue is a effin joke of a coach.

I am liking Zu's float game with Harden's PnR. It's getting better and more consistent, it should be used more often even when Kawhi and PG comes back.

Without 213, we play less iso ball and ball movement got better naturally. This allows less skilled players to be in a better position to make impact. If only you could play like that even with your stars then your ball movement with better talent could look like 2014 Spurs.

That's who the Clippers have been trying to copy for the last five years. Kawhi Leonard is there, he was a part of that 2014 team who won the title. But the Clippers were trying to copy the professionalism and sportsmanship aspects of the Spurs, not the actual championship material. They were more invested in presenting themselves as a Good Samaritan franchise that doesn't do bad things like what happened in the Sterling era, just another P.R. move to appease its fanbase that they've changed. The instant they traded for Harden to become a Fantastic Four True Big 3, all their progress into being a problem-free franchise was thrown out the window.

There is still an identity crisis with the Clippers. Part of them wants to win with power, but the other part prefers winning the hardest way possible. Until they decide who they really want to be - a superteam like the 2011-14 Heatles or an underdog team akin to the 2019 Revenge Of The Role Players - we're gonna see some losses like this.

Hated losing but definitely agree with this. It was a refreshing game to watch.
Boston, Bones, Coffey & PJ all had nice contributions. And hey I wanna see Kobe play as much as everyone here. I would love to see him get developed. But the body that PJ put on Lopez and his work down low was very good. PJ’s time here is limited anyway but if he plays like that while he’s a Clipper I’m not gonna hate. Only thing better would’ve been a win.
