Night y’all. Not watching anymore. I know Lue isn’t going to play the young guys anyway.

Fire Lue

This is a washed 3 point shooting team. No one can get into the paint on any dribble penetration with no screens, no movement. Just pass around the perimeter and jack up a 3.

Good luck selling tickets to this same disaster but a year older next year. I don't give a damn about a new arena when the on-court product is this horrible.

Ballmer needs to wake up and actually be the "hardcore" owner he said he would be. We need a whole new front office, coaching staff and roster. This is unacceptable.

Bench is 2-13. For once I agree. It is close to mathematically impossible to do any worse.

FTR, PJ Tucker is 1-for-2 and a team-high +0. :rofl2:

Guessing you won't like this answer, but it all goes back to the Harden trade. Going all-in with the rest of our draft picks for another washed-up former star instead of accepting reality and rebuilding was the dumbest thing we ever could have done.

Nah. I don't agree with this. This same team put one of the most hottest streak in the NBA not long ago. If the Harden trade was reflective of the current slump then we'd be outside of the play in.
Something's not right. Lue playing PJ, weird lineups etc has me believing in something going on in the locker room.

Despite the posters that actually love when the Clippers lose because of their shtick. The team got absolutely nothing from the others. Kawhi and PG were basically out there alone. And this game should win Norm 6th man of the year.

Just hope Russ is back before the playoffs because the Clippers miss his energy, play making and defense.

This is also the 5th game in 7 nights coming off the road. The NBA seems like they intentionally F the Clippers with the scheduling.

Our FO will convince Ballmer that the 213 era is still very much alive. We will run it back next year with the same AARP squad. Oh yea PG will get his max extension.

Ironically, Tucker finished a team-best plus+3 and Brian Sieman noted he was effective against Capela. Zu got killed out there--6 points, 6 rebs and a team-worst minus-20.

Beard was terrible, 0-7 at one point before he hit a couple. T-Mann was a non-factor again, 7/4/0 in 32 minutes.

And the bench was nonexistent--Coffey, Bones and Theis were 1-for-12.

On the other end, the Hawks shot 49%/50%/90%. A total thrashing. Anybody going to get into fingerpointing gonna need both hands.

Embarrassing loss. 2nd time in a week we have lost 2 games in a row. 3rd time since the All-Start break after having no such losing streaks in Dec and January. Plus, this is the first team we have lost to that currently has a losing record since we Memphis in November. Wasn't a matinee either.

The concerning thing to me is that this team is now 3-7 at HOME since the long road trip. We had one of the best home records in the NBA prior to that.

Despite all of the above, we are 5-5 over our last 10.

Rest of the playoff/play-in teams:
Lakers, Suns, Kings are also 5-5 over their last 10.
Mavs, Warriors and Wolves 6-4.
Pelicans, OKC 7-3
Denver 8-2.

So, most of those teams have only picked up 1 game on us.

They are definitely in a slump and looked stuck in the mud, but man is the NBA weird. Atlanta looked like world beaters- Murray looked like Steph Curry and the Clippers couldn't make wide open shots. They showed they could play well earlier in the season. They just need to get back into a groove. I think the injuries, illnesses, and schedule have got them totally out of rhythm.

The Knicks went on a hot streak with Lin. The Rockets had that crazy 22-win streak many years ago. Neither team amounted to anything. Sometimes a streak is just a streak.

We have the oldest team in the NBA in both minutes and usage, in a league that requires youth/athleticism more than ever before due to increases in pace and movement. Post All-Star break is the reality check. We've built the worst possible team for the modern NBA and it's starting to show.

they definitely don't look good now, but even playing well at the end of the season guarantees nothing in the post-season- I recall several seasons in which the Clippers were playing very well at the end of the season just to have it all derail in the playoffs due to injuries, poor coaching, and/or choking.

Mixing Up My Metaphors

I'm going to take a hunch that the 22-hour gap as a result of daylight savings time which everyone called illegal might have played a part. But let me throw in something else to the mix.

Last season, we had three instances of ejections with Marcus Morris (twice) and a career first for Terance Mann; all those games resulted in a loss. This season, if I'm right about this, it will be the first time in Clipper franchise history that not a single player has been ejected from a game all season long. In fact, the only ejection we have came from their coach Tyronn Lue, which happened in the final game before their All-Star Break (vs. Warriors, the one where Draymond Green threw up some gesture which resulted in karmic punishment).

Before Lue's ejection, Clippers were 35-17. Since then, they are 6-8.

Clippers are afraid that an ejection to their players or coach will permanently tarnish their image, labeling the team as evil. Furthermore, an ejection to their faces of the franchise Kawhi Leonard or Paul George is admittance their trade of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a grave mistake and Thunder won the trade. With Lue's ejection, however, it established something else: players have ultimately lost their trust in him. They ended up winning the game vs. Warriors with assistant coach Dan Craig taking over.

Something has clearly happened between the team and the coaching staff ever since Lue's ejection. Yes, there is still discipline and poise; matter of fact, their technical foul and flagrant foul counts have diminished greatly, but it's ended up making them act too polite in a negative way. It's hard for me to explain without throwing in a reference to Harry Potter, and I won't. But the personality I am getting here is of a team who always plays it safe and follow the rules for fear of getting into trouble and being punished for it. Kind of like being in Sunday school (an odd thing for me to say here, but hey, I always think outside the box, even if it's outlandish).

We've been getting screwed like this on our schedule since 1999. It's not new. The front office had to know we'd get the most B2Bs, 3 in 4s and 5 in 7s like always. They still chose to construct the oldest, slowest team they possibly could anyway. It's not a valid excuse, it's another sign of this franchise's incompetence.
