Coco Crisp has a strained oblique and Wily Mo will be replacing him in the lineup for the first game. It's unclear how serious Crisp's injury is, but obliques seemingly take a long time to heal.
Let's kick them while they're down. No Overbay, no Glaus, no Johnson. And for some reason Adam Lind isn't playing in the first game. They're hurting right now and they're overrated to begin with. Crush their spirit and destroy their will.

Timlin has only bee horrible since the end of 2005. It's understandable that you would put him into the game when the Red Sox have a somewhat reasonable chance at coming back with the heart of the order coming up.

Wily Mo is bumming me out. His swings are so casual, and so far away from the ball. I want to see a little more intensity at the plate. It's looking more and more to me like he just can't hit. I remember when Ortiz was behind Giambi and didn't play much, but every time Ortiz got up to the plate you could see how beautiful his swing was. With Wily Mo, nada. Who cares how far he hits it on those rare, rare occasions that he doesn't strike out?

Youkilis has the day off and Hinske takes his place in the field and in the batting order. Crisp is still injured so Pena will get some more playing time.
Win.
Win.
